What to do if your patient has herpes around the mouth?

If your patient has an active cold sore (herpes), DO NOT perform a chemical peel.

Wait until the area is completely healed before proceeding with treatment.

For patients with a history of cold sores, antiviral medication such as Zovirax (acyclovir) may be recommended by their healthcare provider before treatment to help prevent a flare-up.

The answer is not. You should not preform a chemical if a client is under antibiotics, you need to wait 2 weeks after they finish and the you can do the treatment.
