Yes — sometimes I actually tell a client not to book another laser session.

This client came to me for a Brazilian laser touch-up. She had only a small number of remaining hairs.

And that changes the strategy.

When there are many appropriate dark, coarse hairs, laser can be an excellent and practical choice.

But when only scattered hairs remain, continuing to treat the entire area with laser may no longer be the smartest approach.

In this case, I recommended electrolysis — treating the remaining follicles individually instead of continuing full-area laser sessions.

Not because laser is “bad.”
Because the hair in front of me changed — so the strategy changed too.

More treatments are not always better.
The right treatment is better.

That’s why I don’t sell a machine.
I choose the technology for the hair I actually see.

CASE 006 | SAME FACE. DIFFERENT HAIR. DIFFERENT DECISION. 🔬

Three hairs growing right next to each other may need three completely different approaches.

⚡ Laser — for the right pigmented hair and the right target.
🔬 Electrolysis — when I want to treat an individual follicle precisely.
✋ Leave it alone — when the hair is fine, light, normal and doesn’t need treatment.

This is especially important on the female face.

I don’t automatically laser every dark hair I see. Fine facial hair needs careful evaluation, because inappropriate laser treatment of the face and neck may carry a risk of paradoxical hair stimulation.

And with electrolysis, my goal is never to simply pull a hair out. If a treated hair doesn’t release as expected, I stop and reassess. Protecting the skin matters more than removing one stubborn hair today.

That’s the philosophy behind CASE 006:

Same client. Same area. Different hair. Different strategy.

I don’t choose the machine first.
I look at the hair first.

For every area? For every client? For the entire course?

Not necessarily.

Hair doesn’t grow according to your appointment calendar. Different body areas have different growth cycles — and as laser hair removal progresses, your regrowth should change too.

That’s why I may start a client around 4–6 weeks for certain facial areas, 6–8 weeks for underarms or bikini, and 8–10 weeks for lower legs — and then extend those intervals as the course progresses.

Sometimes I even ask before an appointment:

“Do you actually have enough new hair growth yet?”

If the answer is no, waiting may make more sense than treating simply because six weeks have passed.

And this is especially important with full-body laser hair removal. More appointments do NOT automatically mean faster or better results.

I want to treat the right hair at the right time — not just fill the calendar.

Your treatment schedule should evolve with your results.

Welcome to CASE 005.

One of the most common questions I hear is:
“Why do I still have a few hairs after completing laser hair removal?”

First — it doesn’t automatically mean the laser didn’t work.

Hair follicles grow independently through different stages of the hair cycle. Laser works best when we have the right target: actively growing, sufficiently pigmented hair.

So when only a few scattered hairs remain after a successful laser course, I don’t automatically laser the entire area again.

I reassess the hair.

Is it dark and coarse enough for laser?
How many hairs are left?
Are they isolated and scattered?

When we’re down to just a few individual hairs, I often choose electrolysis for the final clean-up because it allows me to target one visible hair at a time.

⚡ LASER — ideal for reducing larger areas of suitable pigmented hair.
🔎 ELECTROLYSIS — ideal for precision and individual remaining hairs.

Neither is “better.” They do different jobs.

And remember: clean skin today doesn’t mean another hair can never become visible later. Hair removal is a process:

I LOST A CLIENT OVER A HOT SHOWER. 😂🚿

Yes. Seriously.

I once told a client to take a shower before his laser appointment because I wanted him to avoid a hot shower afterward.

He thought I was commenting on his hygiene. 😳
I definitely could have explained that better.

So here’s what I SHOULD have said:

🔥 HEAT. NOT HYGIENE.

After laser hair removal, the skin may temporarily feel warm, look red, or develop small bumps around the follicles.

Adding a very hot shower while the skin is still reactive may increase temporary redness, itching, burning or irritation.

And yes… I tested this on myself. 🤦🏼‍♀️

I did a tiny laser touch-up on my legs and then jumped into a hot shower before going to my other job.

Laser Queen by day. Singer by night. 👑🎤
And yes, if you need a singer… call me. 😂

My skin immediately reminded me:

“Oxana… don’t YOU give laser aftercare instructions for a living?”

Point taken. 😂

So let me say it correctly:

Water isn’t the enemy. Extra heat is.

If you need to shower after laser, keep it cool to lukewarm, be gentle, and don’t scrub freshly treated skin.

So yes… I lost one client.
But I got a much better explanation. 😂

SHAVING MAKES IT WORSE? 👑

Welcome to CASE 004.

This is a situation I see often with men:
dark, coarse hair on the front of the neck + constant shaving + recurring razor bumps and irritation.

So what would I choose — laser or electrolysis?

In this case, I would usually start with LASER.

Why?

Because I’m looking at the hair first.

Dark, coarse, pigmented hair + lighter skin = a strong laser target.

Instead of repeatedly shaving the same area and dealing with irritation again and again, laser hair removal can significantly reduce the amount of hair growing on the neck — and reduce one of the factors contributing to shaving-related bumps and ingrown hairs.

And there’s another detail that matters to me:

THE LINE.

I don’t necessarily want to remove his beard.

We can keep the facial hair and create a clean, carefully planned neckline, while treating the unwanted hair below it.

But this is a process — not one appointment.

A typical starting course may involve around 6 treatments, often approximately 4–6 weeks apart, followed by reassessment. Some clients need additional sessions or future maintenance depending on their individual hair growth and response.

And would I automatically use laser for every man with neck hair?

No.

Different hair. Different skin. Different history. Different strategy.

Sometimes I choose laser.
Sometimes electrolysis.
Sometimes both.

¿PELO EN LA BARBILLA? 👀

Antes de elegir láser o electrólisis, hay una pregunta más importante:

¿Qué tipo de pelo tienes?

Oscuro o claro.
Grueso o fino.
Mucho pelo o solamente algunos pelos.

La respuesta puede cambiar completamente la estrategia.

✨ El pelo oscuro y grueso puede ser un buen candidato para láser.

⚡ Para algunos pelos individuales, la electrólisis puede ser una mejor opción.

⚠️ Y si el pelo es muy fino, primero hay que evaluar si realmente debemos tratarlo.

Por eso, no recomiendo elegir un tratamiento simplemente porque el pelo está en la barbilla.

Primero analizo el pelo y la piel.
Después elijo la tecnología.
