šŸ‚ FALL THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAIR — DAY 13/30

Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought…

ā€œWhere did I go?ā€

This one is for the woman who hasn’t felt quite like herself lately. ā¤ļø

Maybe your body has changed.

Maybe life has gotten really busy.

Maybe you’re taking care of kids, parents, a spouse, a business…everyone except yourself.

Or maybe nothing is necessarily wrong — you just don’t quite recognize the woman looking back at you anymore.

I’ve felt that.

And at 50, I’m realizing something I wish I would’ve understood sooner.

For a while, I thought I needed to get back to the woman I USED to be.

But maybe I’m not supposed to.

Maybe I’m supposed to get to know the woman I’m becoming.

She’s older.

She’s changed.

She’s been through some things.

She’s stronger in some ways and softer in others.

She doesn’t have everything figured out — not even close. šŸ˜‚

But she’s still dreaming. Still growing. Still trying new things. Still learning how to take care of herself while taking care of everyone she loves.

And I’m starting to realize…

I don’t want the old me back.

I’m ready to get to know THIS version of me. ā¤ļø

So if you haven’t felt like yourself lately, maybe you haven’t lost yourself at all.

Maybe you’re just meeting the next version of you.

And she deserves a chance. šŸ¤Ž

šŸ‚ FALL THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAIR — DAY 12/30

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what it means to be STRONG.

I used to think strong meant having everything under control.

Getting everything done.
Taking care of everyone.
Pushing through when I was tired.
And definitely not letting anyone know when I was struggling.

At 50, strong looks a little different to me.

Strong is taking care of my body because I want it to carry me through the next 30+ years.

It’s going to the gym even when I’m not feeling motivated.

But it’s ALSO knowing when I need to rest.

It’s setting boundaries.

It’s asking for help.

It’s saying, ā€œI’m having a hard dayā€ instead of pretending everything is fine.

And sometimes strength is simply getting up the next morning and trying again.

My fitness journey has taught me something I wasn’t expecting…

I started because I wanted to change my body.

But somewhere along the way, I started changing the way I see myself. ā¤ļø

I’m still a work in progress.

My body isn’t perfect. My life isn’t perfect. And I definitely don’t have everything figured out.

But I’m stronger than I used to be — and I’m not just talking about the weights I can lift. šŸ’ŖšŸ¼ā¤ļø

Maybe that’s what getting older is really about.

Not becoming perfect.

Becoming stronger, wiser and a little kinder to yourself along the way.

šŸ‚ FALL THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAIR — DAY 11/30

The face of a hairstylist who’s been behind the chair for 30 years and has heard EVERYTHING. šŸ˜‚

ā€œI want to go darker…but not too dark.ā€

ā€œI want layers…but don’t take off any length.ā€

ā€œI trimmed my own bangs, but JUST A LITTLE.ā€ āœ‚ļøšŸ˜‚

ā€œI used box color…but it was only once.ā€ šŸ‘€

And my personal favorite…

ā€œI want something totally different…but I don’t really want to change anything.ā€ 🤣

But here’s the funny part…

I actually understand what you mean.

After 30 years, I’ve basically become fluent in CLIENT. šŸ˜‚

Because what you SAY you want and what you’re actually picturing aren’t always the same thing.

That’s why I ask questions.

LOTS of questions.

Bring me the screenshots. Show me the Pinterest picture. Tell me what you love AND what you absolutely hate.

Because a great consultation isn’t me telling you what you should have.

It’s the two of us figuring out what YOU actually want.

And after 30 years?

I can usually translate. šŸ˜‰āœ‚ļøā¤ļø

Stylist, what is something your clients have said that make no sense but you get it? 🤪

šŸ‚ Day 11/30 — Fall Thoughts From the Chair

10/02/2026

šŸ‚ FALL THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAIR — DAY 10/30

This one took me a LONG time to learn…

I don’t have to prove myself to anyone.

For years, I felt I had to prove I was good enough—as a stylist, business owner, mom, wife, and pretty much everything else.

And if I’m being completely real…sometimes I STILL fall into that trap.

But at 50, I’m finally starting to understand something.

I’ve been behind the chair for 30 years. I’ve taught and mentored stylists, won awards, built a business, raised a family, made mistakes, started over, doubted myself, and kept going anyway.

Yet there have still been times when I’ve wondered…

ā€œDo I belong here?ā€

Maybe some of you know that feeling, too.

But I’m learning that confidence isn’t thinking you’re better than everyone else.

It’s knowing you don’t have to prove you belong.

I can be proud of what I’ve accomplished and still have things to learn. I can celebrate someone else’s success without questioning my own. And I don’t need everyone to see my value for it to be there.

That only took me 50 years to figure out. šŸ˜‚ā¤ļø

So today’s fall thought is:

Stop trying so hard to prove yourself.

Keep learning. Keep growing. Keep showing up.

And give yourself credit for how far you’ve come. šŸ¤Ž

šŸ‚ FALL THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAIR — DAY 9/30

If this chair could talk… ā¤ļø

After 30 years behind the chair, I can tell you that people rarely come in carrying JUST their hair.

They bring their lives with them.

I’ve celebrated amazing news with clients. I’ve listened through heartbreak. We’ve talked about kids, marriages, parents, careers, health, aging, loss, new beginnings…and sometimes absolutely nothing important at all. šŸ˜‚

I’ve laughed until I’ve cried.

And I’ve had appointments where there wasn’t much talking because sometimes a person just needs a safe place to sit and BE.

That’s something I’ve come to appreciate more and more as I’ve gotten older.

You truly never know what someone is carrying when they walk through the door.

Maybe that’s why I’ve never thought of what I do as just hair.

Of course I want you to leave loving your hair.

But I also hope you leave my chair feeling a little lighter, a little more confident, a little more heard…or maybe just happy that you had a couple of hours where someone took care of YOU.

Thirty years later, that’s still one of the greatest privileges of this career. ā¤ļø

And to every person who has ever trusted me with their hair AND a little piece of their story…

Thank you.

šŸ‚ FALL THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAIR — DAY 8/30

Can we stop acting like gray hair automatically needs to be COVERED?

Because sometimes…we can work WITH it. šŸ¤

One of my favorite things to do behind the chair is gray blending — creating dimension that allows those natural silvers to become part of the color instead of something we’re constantly fighting.

And as I’ve gotten older myself, I feel even more strongly about this:

Our goal doesn’t always have to be to look younger

Maybe the goal is to look current.
Fresh.
Confident.
Beautiful.
And most importantly…like YOU.

If you love covering every gray, COVER IT! šŸ™Œ
If you’re ready to embrace it, embrace it.
And if you’re somewhere in the middle? That’s where a beautiful blend like this can come in. šŸ¤

There is no rule for how a woman is supposed to age — and there certainly isn’t a rule for what her hair should look like while she’s doing it.

After 30 years behind the chair, that’s one thing I know for sure:

The best hair isn’t the hair that makes you look younger. It’s the hair that makes you feel GOOD when you look in the mirror. ā¤ļø

šŸ‚ Day 8/30 — Fall Thoughts From the Chair

09/29/2026

šŸ‚ FALL THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAIR — DAY 7/30

Here’s something that makes me laugh…

I’m 50 years old, I’ve been doing hair for 30 years, and I’m STILL trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. šŸ˜‚

And you know what? I think I finally realized that’s a GOOD thing.

I used to think by this age you were supposed to have everything figured out.

Your career. Your family. Your body. Your confidence. Your future.

Yeahhhh…apparently not. šŸ˜‚

At 50, I still have big ideas. I still want to try new things. I still get excited about what could be next. And yes, I still have moments when I think, ā€œMichelle…are you crazy?ā€ šŸ˜‚

But I never want to stop dreaming.

Thirty years into my career and I still want to learn, create, teach, grow and see where life takes me next.

Maybe getting older isn’t about finally having all the answers.

Maybe it’s realizing you don’t NEED to have all the answers.

You can change your mind.
You can start over.
You can dream bigger.
You can try something completely new.

At ANY age.

I’m definitely not done yet. šŸ˜‰ā¤ļø

So tell me…what’s something YOU still want to do?

šŸ‚ Day 7/30 — Fall Thoughts From the Chair

09/28/2026

šŸ‚ FALL THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAIR — DAY 6/30

Sometimes the person who takes care of everyone else needs a minute, too. šŸ¤Ž

I’m a wife, a mom, a special needs mom, a business owner, a hairstylist…and like so many women, I wear A LOT of hats.

Being a mom to a child on the autism spectrum has taught me patience, advocacy, unconditional love and a strength I didn’t even know I had.

Mental health struggles are also very real in my family. And when you love someone who struggles, you know that sometimes you carry a little extra worry, give a little extra patience and try to be strong when someone you love can’t be.

Then there’s work, family, schedules, appointments, responsibilities…and LIFE.

And somewhere in there, it’s really easy to forget about yourself.

I’ve been guilty of that.

Over the last few years, I’ve realized that taking care of ME isn’t selfish. Working out, taking a walk, sitting quietly with a cup of coffee, taking care of my health or simply saying ā€œI need a minuteā€ doesn’t mean I love anyone else less.

It means I’m human.

I don’t always have it all together. I have hard days. I worry. I get overwhelmed. And sometimes I need to refill my own cup, too. ā˜•ļøā¤ļø

So if you’re the one everyone depends on, this is your reminder:

You’re allowed to need care, too.

And maybe today, filling your cup literally starts with a cup of coffee. ā˜•ļøšŸ˜‚

šŸ‚ Day 6/30 — Fall Thoughts From the Chair

09/27/2026

šŸ‚ FALL THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAIR — DAY 5/30

It’s the LITTLE things. ā¤ļø

30 years behind the chair, and you know what? Some of my favorite moments have absolutely nothing to do with hair!

It’s that first cup of coffee before my day starts.

It’s catching up with a client I haven’t seen in weeks.

It’s the laughter, the stories, the hugs and sometimes even the tears.

It’s watching someone look in the mirror and smile because they feel good about themselves.

Somewhere along the way, my clients became so much more than just clients. You’ve become part of my life, and I’ve been lucky enough to be part of yours.

And even after 30 years, I still get to wake up and do something I genuinely love.

Here’s your little reminder today: Sometimes happiness isn’t about chasing the next BIG thing.

Sometimes it’s appreciating all the little things you already have. šŸ¤Ž

What’s one LITTLE thing that made you smile today?

šŸ Day 5/30 — Fall Thoughts From the Chair

09/26/2026

šŸ‚ FALL THOUGHTS FROM THE CHAIR — DAY 4/30

If I could sit down with my 30-year-old self, oh, the things I would tell her!

First, STOP doubting yourself!

Stop worrying about what everyone else thinks. Stop comparing your journey to someone else’s. And for goodness’ sake, give yourself a little more credit!

At 50, I’m still learning. I’m still growing. I still have moments when I question myself. But one thing I’ve realized is that confidence doesn’t mean having it all figured out.

It means believing in yourself enough to keep going, even when you don’t.

30 years in this industry, raising a family, building a business, making mistakes, celebrating wins, and navigating all the craziness life throws at us.

And guess what? I’m STILL not done growing!

So here’s your reminder today…

Don’t wait until you’re older to realize how amazing you already are. ā¤ļø

What would YOU tell your younger self?
