A good cleanse sets the tone for everything that follows.
In the morning, keep it simple. Depending on your skin, a gentle cleanse or a water rinse may be enough.
At night, cleansing becomes a little more important. The goal is to thoroughly remove makeup, SPF, excess oil and the buildup of the day. If you’re wearing makeup or heavier SPF, start with an oil based cleanser and follow with a second cleanse.
And yes, oil and cream cleansers have a place, even for skin that tends to be oily or breakout-prone. It’s about choosing the right formula for your skin, not chasing that tight, squeaky clean feeling.
Cleanse well. Leave the barrier intact. Then let the rest of your routine do its thing.
