Today is Frena’s 1 year anniversary. Thank you for coming along with me while I learned how to do everything. Thank you for giving a small skincare brand a chance. Thank you for giving me helpful feedback. Thank you for allowing me to make things right. Thank you for liking my posts and even better commenting on my endless posts of my face. Thank you for telling me your testimonies and for sharing products with your loved ones. Thank you for coming to the farmers market, sharing your lives with me and joining the Frena community.
After 1 year of Frena being open for business, I am definitely a changed woman, thanks to you all.

I want to tell you why self-care is the actual core of Frena, not just a tagline.
There was a time when everything fell apart. Not literally, but it felt that way. I had been involved in businesses that turned toxic, and it ended with lawyers and accusations I never saw coming. Things people believed about me that simply weren't true. I was so confused. I couldn't understand why anyone would think that of me, and I couldn't do anything to change their minds.
No matter how I showed up or what I did, it didn't matter. I had no control over the story other people had already decided to believe.
So I stopped working altogether. I had all this free time suddenly, and along with it, a lot of anxiety I didn't know what to do with. I started meditating. I started taking baths. I started really thinking about what self-care meant to me, because up until that point I didn't even understand the difference between self-care and self-love.
All I knew was that I only had myself to count on. It was only me who would prioritize myself.
Meditate, read, nap, take a bath, and try to keep my mind from spiraling into the kind of negative thoughts that could carry me away if I let them. For months, that was my whole day.
Learning to say it's okay to rest, it's okay to not be productive, it's okay to stay home and show up for myself instead of everyone else, that was so much harder than I expected.
That season is why self-care is the core of Frena. Skincare on its own might not be self-love. But caring for yourself, in whatever form that takes, is. Maybe they're the same thing after all.
