I will have to see if this plays out to be true this year😉 If so I am hoping I start seeing Goldenrod sprout up this week! I am soo tired of this heat. My plants are not loving it either :(🌱
Does anyone else remember September Oklahoma State fair days of the 90s when the nights would be chilly so you would have to wear your flannel or a jacket??

Fun fact..I used to be fashion designer and was even a designer in a fashion show🌻
My other business The Prairie Flower Boutique started out designing and creating clothing and then I transitioned into a pretend play and learning toys, dolls and stuffies designer. Many hours went into these special creations and I enjoyed making specialty and pageant dresses but my favorite things to make were the dolls and toys!
I felt just like Santa making them every year, so many hours, creativity and love went into these gifts. I loved the years of custom requests and hearing after Christmas how their little recipients loved their new special gifts💗🎅 It seems that chapter of life is closing at least for now and that business has been winding down for awhile, my focus now has turned to making sure I am able to help others with their health journeys and educating on how to live a healthy life, navigating through the jungle of unhealthy products on the market, and helping to empower others to take control of their health.🌻
I can't wait for this event🎉 We will be vendors at the Arcadia location 🌻Route 66 Balloon Festival

Our early years on the farm almost 20 years ago..included the occasional cleanup of damaged giant trees after storms, watching our orchard and small vineyard grow and change with age, growing big gardens with 75 plus tomato and pepper plants, squash, zucchini, okra, greens, watermelon, radishes, beets, carrots, onions, learning to naturally and organically raise grass fed beef and meat and egg laying chickens, ducks and yes even mean geese. We sold some produce and eggs, canned, dehydrated and froze our bounty and the kids enjoyed our 1st pond and life in the county.
We had visits from wildlife and our kids quickly realized their lifestyle was different from their cousins. Life was a journey of trials and successes 🌻

While we are still on the mend..I thought I would give a little background about who Prairie Flower Farms is, when we came about and the how we have become what we are today...The short sweet version is that in 2007 my hubs, myself and our 15 month old son moved to our farm in Guthrie and began our homesteading journey. Our oldest is our only child (we have 5) that can sort of remember life without farm animals🐓🐇🦆🐄🐖
When we moved out here taking pictures with a real camera was still a thing so I currently do not have phone pics to share of the very early days😜
Some of these pictures show the beginnings of some special happenings; baby pictures of my heirloom roses, giant oak trees that line our property, some that are now sadly at the end of their life cycle, the floods that the cottonwood creek gave us through the years covering a big area of our pasture, feral children enjoying growing up in the country, the time they spent living outdoors, exploring nature, learning from the seasons and learning how to live off the land and to be good stewards of the land shaping them to be the young adults and teens they have become today.
In some ways the homestead journey seemed like yesterday and in other ways after writing this it seems like another lifetime. I have to admit I became a little teary eyed looking through the old photos and thinking of the past.
We always knew when we moved out here we wanted to provide a healthy lifestyle and be self sufficient for ourselves and our children, our journey morphed into wanting to help others as well.
Our family has practiced using natural treatments using oils, herbs/plants, and spices, practicing medicinal treatments/protocals such as TCM, Ayurvedic and aromatherapy.
Since 2017-2018 we have brought some of our earliest products to market under my other business which is The Prairie Flower Boutique.
When we started selling plants and herbs we decided to branch off as a different business and so the name Prairie Flower Farms was born🌻 we continued to provide and create high quality organic and wildcrafted bath, body, home, pet and medicinal products free of phthalates, parabens and preservatives, NO fragrance oils only organic essential oils are used.
In my next few posts I will give details of my background and experience to handcraft these products.
🌻New things on the horizon as well, some fun new products and classes as well as client visit scheduling🌻🌻

It has been a long 4 weeks..what started with 1 child having only a strange lingering cough after camp that at times would turn into a major coughing fit has now morphed into 2 other kiddos getting this strange cough and they are now on week 2, which I myself have also succumbed to this illness at the end of last week :(
Apparently this is going around..coughing to severe coughing almost as if you are choking on postnasal drainage. It starts out as an annoying allergy type or postnasal cough where it seems like you always have a tickle in your throat causing you to cough then it feels like your cough is getting better, less frequent but here comes the coughing attacks or fits to the point your eyes water, you use so much energy and feel like the postnasal drainage is going to choke you, slowly the intensity of this cough lessens but the occasional coughing fit still happens 4 weeks after the start!! I know people that have had 2 rounds of antibiotics and steroids and still the occasional cough attacks occur.
Being the detective I am..I question what is going on?? We are being told this is due to allergies but that doesn't explain why I can have kiddos and myself come down with this at different times. This has a crazy contagion and incubation period. What is getting me is the sleepless or jagged sleeping nights getting up with my kiddos when they have one of these coughing fits and if my calculations are right I am scheduled to go through this part of the illness very soon my momma of 5 bladder is not been so kind to me during all of this😥
So I and my kiddos are staying hydrated, taking all my herbal remedies from tinctures, teas, to Fire Cider. Thyme has been our best friend in this season and we were blessed that it grew so well this year as it is an anti-catarrhal herb and helps with the mucus💗 To occupy my mind more study, study, study is happening as I take time to heal🌻
