I was recently diagnosed with a heart condition. It's nothing major, but it IS something I want to resolve. Heart DNA is some of the easiest to repair (thank you HapiTides!). Diet and exercise are important as well.
Those of you looking to have a healthier heart need to keep quite a few things in mind. What you put into your body is a biggie. I have never been a big salt eater. You should know that consuming less salt reduces blood pressure and helps blood pump easily through the body. It doesn’t mean your foods have to be flavorless!
Fill your pantry with powerful spices to AMPLIFY the taste of your food such as:
Oregano
Turmeric
Cinnamon
Cloves
Cayenne pepper
Garlic and garlic powder
Ginger
* Sprinkle fresh cilantro over fish tacos, add dried oregano to tomato sauce, mix turmeric into mashed potatoes, or blend fresh ginger into smoothies.
Give your heart the love it deserves. A heart-healthy diet full of fiber, healthy fats, antioxidants, and heart-loving spices will do the trick. Along with exercise and stress management, give your heart the fuel it needs to keep beating!

FOG BUSTERS
When you're struggling with fuzzy thinking, lifestyle changes like these can bring more clarity.
*Get more sleep. Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep per night. "Older adults tend to sleep less, but if you're getting too little sleep, you won't think as sharply as you could," says Dr. Shreya Raj. Boost your Z's by going to sleep and waking at the same time each day, and avoiding caffeine, particularly in the afternoon.
*Exercise more. Try to get 150 minutes of moderate-intensity activity per week, such as brisk walking. This is only about 20 minutes each day. You'll get more sleep and boost blood flow to the brain. Many studies have shown that aerobic exercise in particular improves thinking skills.
*Change your diet. "Not eating healthfully makes you more sluggish, even in thinking. Studies have shown the Mediterranean diet may improve cognitive function," says Dr. Raj. The diet includes fresh vegetables and fruits; whole grains; olive oil; nuts; legumes; fish; moderate amounts of poultry, eggs, and dairy; moderate amounts of red w**e; and red meat only sparingly.

We have often talked this year about mental and emotional health, especially during these COVID times. The California Surgeon General actually put out a "Stress Management Playbook." Here is a little snapshot.
“Safe, stable, and nurturing relationships can protect our brains and bodies from the harmful effects of stress and adversity,” the guide states. “Healthy nutrition, regular exercise, restful sleep, practicing mindfulness, staying connected to our social supports, and getting mental health care can help decrease stress hormones and improve health.”
What the guide failed to mention was the Gut Health Triad of products from thewaytobetterhealth.com and all of us supporting each other during the 90-day Hapinss Health Challenge. We are nearly three weeks into it. How are you doing?
