Sometimes the most powerful parts of our work doesn’t begin with doing.

It begins with watching.

Before stepping into the herd, we spend time observing. Not to analyze the horses, but to notice what comes alive within ourselves.

Who do you notice first?
Who do you feel drawn toward?
Who do you avoid?
What story does your mind immediately begin telling?

“The horse on the outside must feel lonely.”
“That one is the leader.”
“The dark horse looks intimidating.”
“They’re rejecting each other.”

These stories often say as much about our own experiences as they do about the herd.

Our nervous systems are constantly making meaning from the world around us. Many of those narratives were shaped long ago—through relationships, attachment, loss, trauma, or belonging. Without realizing it, we can project those patterns onto the horses.

As we slow down together, something remarkable happens.

We become curious instead of certain.

The “lonely” horse may have chosen that space.
The “leader” may simply be resting.
The horse that felt intimidating may become the first to approach with quiet gentleness.

The herd invites us to question the stories we’ve carried for years.

This isn’t about being right or wrong. It’s about expanding awareness.

When we recognize the narratives our minds create, we gain the freedom to choose new ones—ones rooted in curiosity, compassion, and present-moment experience rather than old survival patterns.

The horses don’t ask us to change.

They simply offer an honest reflection that helps us see ourselves more clearly.

Sometimes the greatest breakthrough begins with quietly standing at the fence, watching a herd… and noticing the story we’re telling.

✨ What is your story?

There may have been times when you learned it was safer to stay quiet.

Safer to shrink.

Safer to smile when you wanted to cry.

Safer to carry everyone else’s comfort while abandoning your own.

And perhaps you became so skilled at filtering yourself that you forgot it was happening at all.

But your body remembered.

Your breath remembered.

The tightness in your chest remembered.

The exhaustion of holding it all together remembered.

And yet, beneath all of that, something essential remained untouched.

The part of you that knows how to exhale.

The part of you that longs to be seen.

The part of you that was never meant to become smaller in order to belong.

Horses seem to recognize this part immediately.

They do not ask for perfection.

They do not ask for performance.

They do not ask you to be anyone other than who you are in this moment.

And perhaps that is why being with them can feel like coming home.

Not because they fix anything.

But because they remind you of what was always there.

Your voice.

Your truth.

Your capacity to feel.

Your ability to trust yourself again.

So if today feels uncertain, let this be your reminder:

You do not need to have all the answers.

You do not need to know the entire path.

You only need enough courage for this breath.

This step.

This moment.

And then the next.

The rest will unfold from there.
