Moss Massage Gr
I provide deep tissue massage with the intention of decreasing pain and increasing mobility.

Some people talk through their whole massage. Some say hello, settle in, and do not say another word. Some drift between the two.
All of that is welcome.
You do not owe anyone conversation during a session. If you want quiet, you can ask for it directly or simply let the room be quiet. You can also change your mind halfway through.
Do you relax more with conversation, silence, or a little of both?

A lot of people wait until their body is shouting before they book.
Until the knot is impossible to ignore. Until turning their head feels like a group project. Until they realize they have been clenching everything for three straight weeks.
Massage does not have to be emergency maintenance. It can be the quieter kind of care that helps you notice tension before it becomes the only thing you can think about.
If you have been thinking about booking, message me. You do not have to wait until your body makes the decision for you.

Some days you feel chatty. Some days your brain is still running through the list. Some days the best thing you can offer is showing up.
In this room, you can ask for more pressure, less pressure, a different area, or no conversation at all. You do not have to arrive relaxed. You do not have to explain why you are tired. You do not have to perform.
What helps you settle into a space more easily?

September has that strange in-between feeling. Routines change. Calendars fill back up. Everything seems to move at a slightly different pace. 🍁
Bodies notice transitions too. Maybe yours is asking for more sleep, gentler pressure, a longer walk, a quieter session, or one hour when nobody needs anything from you.
What has your body been asking for lately?

The Session Fund is intentionally simple.
At your September appointment, you can add $10. I add another $10. The combined $20 goes into the fund to support sliding-scale care at Moss.
Each contribution supports part of an appointment. I will share the verified total after the month closes.
If you would like to add $10, just tell me at checkout.

Sliding-scale pricing has been part of Moss since December. It is one way I can make massage more reachable without asking anyone to prove or explain what they can afford.
This September, I am adding a little more support to it.
When you add $10 to your session, I will add another $10. Together, that $20 goes into the Session Fund to support a sliding-scale appointment.
If you want to add to the fund, just tell me at your September appointment. I will share the verified total after the month closes.
Want to come in this month? Message me to book.

There's a specific quality to Grand Rapids at the end of August. The light comes in lower in the evenings. The farmers market is at its absolute best. Everyone is trying to get one more thing in before the school year swallows the calendar.
I love this stretch. I also know it's when a lot of people quietly run themselves down.
If you're local and looking for a genuinely good way to spend a late-summer afternoon before things get busy: the market, a walk somewhere with actual trees, and no plan after it.
Where's your favorite spot in GR to slow down? Always looking for new ones.

Last few days for the August offer: $15 off any 90-minute massage, through Monday the 31st.
If September is already looking full, this is a good weekend to get something on the calendar for yourself before it disappears.

Low back soreness after a weekend outside is one of the most common things I hear in August.
The issue is almost always how long you stayed in one shape, not the shape itself.
So the things that help are mostly about variety:
1️⃣ Change positions before you're uncomfortable, not after.
2️⃣ Kneel, then squat, then stand. Mix in your hips and legs so the same tissue isn't doing all the work for two hours.
3️⃣ Move afterward. A short walk is better for a tired back than sitting straight down.
And if it's already settled in and nothing is helping, that's a reasonable time to come see me.
Tension that's built up over weeks usually needs more than the last fifteen minutes of a session — which is part of why I'm running the 90-minute offer this month.

A few hours in a car doesn't sound like it should hurt. You're sitting down. You're not doing anything.
But driving asks your body to hold one shape for a long time, and to keep doing a few small things while it does.
Your head sits slightly forward of your shoulders, so the muscles at the back of your neck are quietly working the whole drive.
Your arms are held out in front of you, which keeps your chest shortened and your upper back loaded.
Your legs stay in more or less one position, doing small repetitive work.
And you almost never change any of it.
It isn't really the driving. It's the sameness. Muscles tolerate variety far better than they tolerate stillness — which is why the same position that's fine for twenty minutes is uncomfortable at hour three.
On a long drive, stopping every ninety minutes to walk for five does more than you'd expect. And if you're already past that point and it has settled in, that's exactly the kind of thing a longer session has room to work through properly.
Save this before your next trip.
