STORY TIME ✨ When filler turned into an unexpected subcision treatment… 👀

This beauty came to me wanting to look refreshed for a big event—and we were on a time crunch. We started with Daxxify (Tox) and waited until after her event to move on to filler.

One month later: ✨ Tox was TOXING. ✨
Next up: restoring contour and volume to her cheeks + tear troughs with 2 mL of filler.

But once I introduced my cannula, I noticed something unexpected.

I encountered multiple areas of dense, fibrotic tissue and tethering through the cheeks and around the orbital hollows. She had no history of acne scarring, but did recall having Sculptra injected into these same areas approximately 2 years ago.

Sculptra (PLLA) stimulates collagen through a controlled inflammatory response. Although uncommon, nodules, granulomatous reactions and fibrosis are recognized potential complications. I can’t say definitively that her previous Sculptra caused the tissue I encountered—but the location was noteworthy.

Since she was tolerating the cannula beautifully, I carefully released some of the most significant fibrous bands—essentially performing subcision.

And the improvement was IMMEDIATE. 🤯

Releasing the tethered tissue visibly softened and smoothed her cheek texture, especially when she smiled.

💋 Lip filler isn’t always about making your lips bigger.

Sometimes, the best lip filler is the kind you can’t quite put your finger on — you just know the lips look more balanced, defined, and proportional.

One of my favorite reasons to use filler is to refine natural asymmetry and shape. Almost everyone has some degree of lip asymmetry. One side may sit slightly higher, one peak of the Cupid’s bow may be stronger, or the upper and lower lip proportions may feel a little off.

✨ What is Liquid Lipo? ✨❓

Think of it as a way to target those stubborn little pockets of fat that just don’t seem to budge — even when you’re maintaining your weight and doing all the right things.

💉 Liquid Lipo is a fat-dissolving injectable placed directly into localized areas of unwanted fat.

The active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, is a substance naturally found in the body that helps break down fat. When injected into targeted fatty tissue, it destroys the treated fat cells, which are then gradually cleared by the body through its natural processes.

What to expect:

Power of lips + chin 🔥

My goal was to improve symmetry to the lower face and to the lip shape, as well as soften shadows to the lower face and enhance the overall lower face profile.

Products used: 1 mL Volbella for a complete plump & defined outline while keep it demure. Voluma 1 mL to the lower face to create a defined jawline & replace volume loss and asymmetry to the pre-jowl sulcus. This results in a lift the lower face & supports the lip result for a seamless enhancement that still looks natural to her anatomy.

Results are immediate and duration should last 1 year for the lips and 2 years for the chin area. Cannula technique to the chin/pre-jowl was used for safety and minimize the risk of bruising. Swelling is normal and will resolve in 1-2 weeks.
