The new luxury is a return to self.
I’m honored to share my latest article with American Spa.
After decades in the treatment room, I’ve watched what clients are looking for begin to shift. They still want results, but they’re also craving something deeper. A moment to slow down. To breathe. To feel cared for.
In the article, I share why I believe the future of luxury skincare isn’t about choosing between results and restoration. It’s about creating space for both.

Have you ever thought about why the ending of a facial matters so much? There’s actually a psychological principle called the peak-end rule. People tend to remember an experience based a lot on the most intense part and how it ends. So if extractions are one of the least comfortable parts of the facial, why would we end there?
A facial should have a flow to it. Warmth, slow touch, let the guest settle in, do the corrective work, then bring them back down. Massage, mask, quiet, finishing products. They should leave feeling relaxed, cared for and a little facial drunk. They may not remember every single product you used, but they will remember how they felt when they walked out.
As estheticians, we carry a lot.
Clients’ stories. Business stress. Full books, empty books, cancellations, comparison, growth, doubt, all of it.
But what we focus on matters.
There is so much good in this work too. The trust people place in us. The quiet moments in the treatment room. The client who finally feels confident in her skin. The career we get to build with our own hands.
Talk about the blessings more than the burdens.

THE SUN DOESN’T TAKE WINTER OFF. NEITHER SHOULD YOUR SPF. ☀️❄️
Fall is approaching, and you already know what your clients are going to say:
“The sun isn’t really out. Do I still need SPF?”
Yes. Every day.
Cooler temperatures don’t mean UV disappears. UVA rays, the ones associated with premature aging, pigmentation and cumulative skin damage, are present year-round and can pe*****te clouds and windows.
And here’s the part many people don’t realize: snow can reflect UV rays back toward your skin, increasing your overall exposure.
UVB is generally weaker during fall and winter, so yes, some types of sun exposure may be lower than during peak summer months. But lower UV does not mean no UV. Protect the progress you’ve made all year.
