Have you ever called yourself an “overreactor”…
only to realize later that your body was actually trying to tell you something?
I’ve been thinking about this a lot because we’ve gotten really good at talking about nervous system regulation.
Ground yourself.
Calm down.
Take a breath.
Don’t react.
Get regulated.
And yes. I’m all for that.
But I think we’ve missed something important.
Sometimes your nervous system is activated because something actually ISN’T okay.
Maybe your relationship has a dynamic that doesn’t feel good anymore.
Maybe you’ve been taking care of everyone else while ignoring your own very real needs.
Maybe your relationship with money is creating stress you’ve been trying to convince yourself isn’t there.
Maybe your body is picking up on a red flag that your brain hasn’t quite put words to yet.
And then there’s the other side:
Sometimes we’re reacting to something happening now through the lens of something that happened then.
Same activation.
Very different story.
That’s why I don’t think the goal is to become so “regulated” that nothing bothers you.
I think the goal is discernment.
To be able to pause and ask:
Is this an old wound?
Is this a real boundary being crossed?
Is there something I actually need to pay attention to here?
Because your nervous system isn’t your enemy.
It’s trying to communicate with you.
The work is learning how to listen.
🎧 This is exactly what I unpack in this week’s episode of Life, Mastered: What People Get Wrong About the Nervous System.
If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re “overreacting” or whether your body is actually trying to get your attention…
go listen.
And then tell me: Have you ever looked back and realized your “overreaction” was actually information?

What if “calm down” isn’t always the answer?
I see this all the time in the coaching and self-development world.
Someone gets activated and immediately thinks:
I need to regulate.
Why am I reacting like this?
I should be able to handle this better.
But here’s what I want you to consider:
What if your nervous system is trying to tell you something?
Sometimes activation is coming from an old wound.
A past experience.
A perceived threat that isn’t actually happening anymore.
And yes, that’s something worth understanding and working through.
But sometimes your body is responding because a boundary was crossed.
Because something doesn’t feel right.
Because you’re ignoring a need.
Because there’s a very real red flag sitting right in front of you.
And if you’ve trained yourself to immediately “regulate” every uncomfortable response, you can accidentally learn to override yourself.
That’s not nervous system awareness.
That’s disconnection dressed up as regulation.
The goal isn’t to become so regulated that nothing bothers you.
The goal is discernment.
Can I recognize what my body is telling me?
Can I tell the difference between an old pattern and a present-moment threat?
Can I slow down enough to actually listen before deciding what to do?
That’s a very different relationship with your nervous system.
And honestly, I think we need a lot more of it.
This is exactly what we’re unpacking in this week’s episode of Life, Mastered—and it’s Part 4 of 6.
🎧 listen to What People Get Wrong About the Nervous System this Wednesday.

Seven years ago, I hit a point where I couldn’t out-coach myselt anymore.
To be honest, I didn’t really understand what was wrong with me, but my emotions were screaming at me.
And my nervous system... was on high alert.
Why? I knew the best mindset work. I was doing “the work.” I was a Master Coach.
And on the outside, everything looked fine.
I was running my business, raising my kids, keeping things moving.
But behind the scenes? Mindset work wasn’t working. I was anxious, overwhelmed, and dealing with panic attacks that landed me in the ER.
This was the beginning of some of the greatest lessons (and truths) I would learn.
Your emotional world matters.
Your emotional language must be understood.
You cannot outthink your emotions (nor should you).
And this... when you get to know your own emotional needs you will unlock the next level of greatness.
If you’re exhausted trying to change your thoughts, shift your beliefs, and do “all the things” to “fix” yourself, but it’s not working... this new podcast episode is for you!
You’ll finally get unstuck. You’ll finally feel fulfilled. You’ll finally have the life and relationships you deserve.
It’s Part 3 of the Life Mastery Method, and we’re diving into why understanding your emotional patterns changes everything.

Bold claim incoming: even the most educated, most certified, most self-aware coaches and high achievers I’ve ever worked with share one blindspot.
They don’t know what an emotional need is and they definitely don’t know how their own unmet needs are keeping them from meeting their potential.
I’ve seen this in coaches with PhDs. Therapists turned coaches. People who’ve read every self-help book on the market. It’s not about intelligence. It’s about a gap - you don’t know what you don’t know.
Once you understand emotional needs... yours and your clients’... everything shifts. The resistance makes sense. The stuckness has a reason. And you finally have a path through it.
Save this and follow along. there’s a lot more where this came from.

I never told anyone that until last week.
That’s how old the pattern was. Not a habit I picked up last month. It’s something that was baked into how I was thinking, feeling, and even how my nervous system would react for decades. Most of us are living out patterns like that. Decades old. Invisible. Running the show.
So, what pattern are you still living out?
→ Believing you have to earn your worth
→ Staying quiet so no one gets upset
→ Playing small because success scares you more than failure does
Here’s the thing: old ≠ permanent.
I break my own patterns every day. You can too. It starts with
seeing the pattern → interrupting it → building something new — in your habits, your mind, AND your nervous system.
Not one or the other. All of it.
This is the whole framework I live by and I teach all of my clients. I believe in this work so much that I have recorded an entire Podcast Episode on how to break the patterns and create lasting change. Comment PODCAST and I will send you the episode

Do you believe you can create lasting change?
Change happens when you decide that your current reality is no longer acceptable.
The challenges of life can allow us the opportunity to create incredible transformations.
I’m happy to say that…
I know who I am. I speak up for what I want. I believe my needs matter and I advocate for
them. I trust myself. I have hard conversations, even at the risk of upsetting someone else.
I give myself grace, space, and time to be human (much more often).
Change is possible for you and it’s possible for your clients too. Listen to the full episode by commenting PODCAST and I’ll send it straight to you.
Sometimes the person who is changed the most by serving… is the one doing the serving.
In today's Life, Mastered episode, I'm joined by Lisa Stender, COO of Feed My Starving Children, for a conversation about generosity, hope, and the incredible impact of coming together to serve others.
We talk about:
• how one simple act of service can change lives
• what hunger really looks like around the world
• why volunteering creates connection, purpose, and perspective
• how giving back transforms both the people receiving help and the people offering it
One of my biggest takeaways from this conversation is this:
We're far more alike than we are different.
Every parent wants their child to thrive.
Every person wants hope.
Every act of kindness matters.
If you've been looking for a reminder that your small actions can make a big difference, I hope you'll listen.

What's your legacy?...
Last week on the podcast I shared a bit about how my life has been impacted by a car accident I experienced in November.
Try as I might, my mental and emotional stamina has not fully recovered. It's been hard. Discouraging. And scary when I begin to fear the worst.
And the gift in this? Another opportunity to strengthen my conviction for the lesson that has certainly become the most powerful message I can share and leave behind (one day that is... ;) ).
Please take care of yourself. Your mental, emotional, and physical needs matter. Ignoring them or trying to override them is not the way. Treat yourself with the love, care, and compassion you would offer your very best friend.
Care about how you feel. Be kind and gentle with yourself in your struggles, your heartbreak, and your disappointments. Life can challenge us to the core, over and over again. Be brave and have your own back.
Your value as a human being is not measured by how much you do, or how well you do it. The entire notion is so far off from the truth, it's absurd that so many of us have bought into it. Your inherent worth is not up for debate. You, your soul, your light, and your essence is a beautiful part of the collective. Allow it to shine by remembering (and believing) that you matter.
What's your legacy? What's the lesson(s) that you keep learning and integrating at a deeper level? And how will you share your heartfelt message with the world?
We've got this.
With love, xo
