I had this ridiculous urge to color one of my recent customers a picture just to match the envelope to her Thank You card😅 I'm so extra

Swatches of this illuminating Gold shade I'm making for an order✨ It has hues of this incredible lime green color in it and it looks different (as you can see) when you move your arm or eyes around & in different shades of light 😍 I'm obsessed with this one already! I really wish you could all see it in person or if the quality of the photos were better 😬 NONE of these photos are enhanced or edited besides a lil crop action so you can't see my toddlers room in the background..that boy has the best light in the house😂

So.. I don't usually address things like this on here especially because I try to keep it light. Stuff about new palettes coming out, MOTD, pics of other makeup that I find interesting & inspiring. Stuff like that 💖

Weelllll, about a month maybe a month & a half ago I get a message on my Etsy site telling me that they were interested in a 2pc custom palette & I'm thinking, GREAT, No Problem 💭 She sent me a picture of the label she wanted on the cover which I usually make my own in case of copyright issues. It looked like a picture she snatched off of the internet, still not that huge of a deal so I ask her if that's her own artwork because I don't feel comfortable using someone else's art. As I'm paying closer attention to the label she sent me and wanted me to put on MY handmade palettes, I realize it has another brand name on it. I politely ask her what that is & she proceeds to tell me that she wants that name brand on the front of the palette. I explain to her that I do NOT put any other brand besides my own on my palettes. She never messaged me back & never even mentioned what colors she would like in them. It was strange.

Then not even a week later some other girl actually ORDERS a custom palette without messaging me about it first with details to see if I could even do it. & Guess what? It's the SAME SILVER 2PC palette that the other girl wanted. Now this wouldn't be so odd to me if my 2pc palettes were popular but literally NO ONE orders them. This girl had a completely different account but like the last person, didn't have any favorites or had ordered anything in the past from Etsy. I didn't want to be a paranoid psycho so I messaged her asking her what she wanted and she says something similar to this "I want these 2 colors from the so & so palette" (I will not release the companies name) and I told her that I only create my own colors and I don't think it's cool to steal other makeup businesses ideas. I told her I could recreate it in my own way but it would not be a replica because I believe in originality and creating my own shades. She says that's fine but then tells me that she wants a different brand name on the cover of the palette, JUST like the other person. I already didn't like or appreciate the way this was going from the very beginning but This is when I start really noticing some red flags. I inform her like I did with the 'last person' that I don't do that nor will I because it's very common that people will buy your work & try to sell it as their own. She replies with "Oh it's not even a real brand and I don't plan on selling it". That's literally the only answer I got back about that question. So not only does she want me to steal someone else's shade and sell it as my own, wants a brand name on the cover that's not mine that supposedly doesn't even exist AND she rushed to pay for it without confirming I would even be ok with doing that🤔 Does that make any sense to you?Because I'm baffled with the audacity of some people. I didn't want to sell her anything after that but since she took over a week to respond and already paid, I gave in BUT I only made the shades slightly resemble the colors she asked me to COPY from another company but I also decided to put MY brand name on the palette instead 🤷‍♀️ That might sound like bad business to some but I think if you're going to order a custom made palette from someone who literally spends HOURS perfecting the shades, creating the labels, pressing the shadows, making unique Thank You cards, sending gift bags w free goodies & samples along with every order, you best know how to be polite, learn to respond to messages & tell me exactly what you're looking for not a week AFTER already purchasing your order. Where do they do that at?👀 I still worked extremely hard on her palette because this is my passion before my business & I very kindly explained in her thank you card for the 2nd or 3rd time why I didn't put whatever "brand" she wanted on the cover. I told her to lmk how she likes it & to contact me with any issues or questions.

Now get this, I just got ANOTHER message from a 3rd person asking for a 4pc custom palette this time but once again asking that I put another brand name on it.
It's very simple..

NO‼️

I don't mind creating eyeshadow that resembles some of your favorite shades from other palettes because I understand loving one or 2 shades but not wanting to buy the whole palette especially since brand name palettes are so expensive now. Just ask me ahead of time if I feel comfortable doing that. It's all about consideration when you are trying to buy something handmade. These things are not easy to make & it's extremely time consuming but I love doing it and I encourage people to reach out and I feel honored to be apart of making their dream eyeshadow palette.

But as you all can probably hear my tone just from reading this, I WILL NOT AND WILL NEVER put your brand or another brand on my hard work. To take advantage of people who do this as a career, a hobby, or just to make other people happy is sooo low and I can't imagine how you sleep at night 🤡🤷‍♀️

For the rest of you thank you for always supporting my dream and showing me that anything is possible with ambition, patience,& hard work. Y'all are the real MFN MVPs and I love you all😘

I'm a day late to post this here but HAPPY OCTOBER🎃 It's been my favorite month/time of the year since I can remember💭 It's my 3 year olds favorite too🧡❕
2020 has been a helly weird year but October is gonna be the highlight of my year, no doubt. I have some very important news for you all that I will be sharing a little bit later today.
