Kyana at Texture+Sage
I help women with fine thin hair grow their hair longer and stronger through the art of hair extensions.
Well that escalated quickly đ
The relief that comes with not stressing about your hair is something I canât even put into words.
Today I literally threw my wig on in the parking lot before walking into the salon.
No brush.
No styling.
No panic.
Just grab it and go. đââď¸
The time itâs giving me back in the mornings with my boys has been life-changing. Instead of worrying about my hair, I get more moments with them.
If youâre struggling with hair loss, please know you donât have to just live with it. There are options, and together weâll find the one that fits your lifestyle, your goals, and your budget.

I never thought Iâd say this... but getting ready has actually become fun again.
The more I wear my wig, the more it feels like me.
The weirdest part?
Iâll edit a video and see a clip of myself without it and think, âWhoa... thatâs not how I picture myself anymore.â
Somehow, this little piece of hair has become the version of me I always saw in my head.
And if youâve ever felt guilty for loving the hair that gives you your confidence back... donât.
Sometimes confidence isnât about changing who you are.
Sometimes itâs about finally seeing yourself the way youâve always wanted to.
If the word âwigâ makes your stomach sink... I get it.
That was me.
Even as a hairstylist.
I had so many assumptions about what wearing a wig would be like.
I thought it would look obvious, feel uncomfortable, and constantly remind me that my hair sucked.
So I pushed the idea away.
But after experiencing hair loss myself, I finally decided to try one.
And honestly... it wasnât anything like I expected.
Now I can get ready in minutes, have the hair I used to wish for, and stop spending so much mental energy worrying about whether my extensions are showing that day.
Iâm sharing this journey because I know there are women silently having the same thoughts I had.
If thatâs you, I hope my experience helps make the word âwigâ feel a little less scary. đ
Iâll never forget the moment someone told me Iâd be a great candidate for a topper.
I wasnât ready.
At the time, I was âjust thinning.â
Or at least thatâs what I told myself.
So I kept trying to make extensions work. I convinced myself that if I found the right method, the right color, or the right cut, Iâd finally feel confident again.
Fast forward to today...
My hair loss has progressed into the beginning stages of female pattern hair loss, with whatâs known as a Christmas tree part.
And while I donât wear a topper... yet... I do wear a wig.
Funny enough, the hair solutions I once told myself were âfor other peopleâ are now the very things helping me feel like myself again.
Sometimes weâre not rejecting the solution.
Weâre just grieving the fact that we might need one.
If youâre in that place right now, I see you. đ¤

There have been consultations where Iâve told someone, âI donât think extensions are the best option for you.â
Not because I canât do them.
Because I genuinely donât think theyâre the right fit.
Sometimes the better answer is a topper.
Sometimes itâs a wig.
Sometimes itâs waiting a little longer.
And sometimes itâs pointing someone in a different direction altogether.
Does that mean I lose out on a service?
Sometimes.
But Iâd rather do that than recommend something I donât believe is right for your hair.
Integrity is one of the core values Texture+Sage was built on, and that means recommending whatâs best for you, not whatâs best for my books.
At the end of the day, Iâd rather you leave with the right plan than the most expensive one.
I keep asking myself... âWhy didnât I try this sooner?â
But if Iâm being honest... I never even let wigs be an option for me.
In my mind, wigs looked like the cheap Halloween one I wore as Cruella de Vil. So instead...I kept trying to make extensions work.
Maybe a different color.
Maybe a shorter haircut.
Maybe a different extension method.
Every change led me right back to the same problem. My scalp.
None of those solutions addressed the one thing I needed help with most. Then it hit me...
Wigs are the âextension mommy makeover.â
Extensions add length and fullness to the hair you already have. A wig gives you a completely fresh start.
Now Iâm just wondering...
Why did I wait so long to give them a chance?
This was SUCH a good question because it's the part of the wig journey that people rarely talk about.
There's a short period where you're completely shell-shocked.
You've been used to seeing yourself one way for so long, so seeing yourself with different hair can feel unfamiliar at first.
Then you start wearing it. Friends compliment your hair. A stranger stops you to tell you they love it.
That's when it clicks:
"Oh... people actually think this is my hair."
Until that moment, there's often this lingering fear:ďż˝"What are people going to think if I'm wearing a wig?"
But on the other side of that fear is so much relief.
You get to have great hair days without worrying about your scalp showing. You spend less time stressing and more time living your life.
And that kind of freedom is hard to put into words until you experience it.
