🩹 Medical Monday: Stop putting antibiotic ointment on every little cut.

For a clean, minor cut or scrape, you usually don’t need Neosporin or bacitracin.

Research has found that plain petroleum jelly can heal wounds just as well, without unnecessarily exposing your skin to topical antibiotics… which can actually cause allergic contact dermatitis in some people.

What I typically want instead:

Clean it.
Keep it slightly moist with plain petrolatum.
Cover it.

That moist environment helps your skin heal, and the antibiotic isn’t what makes that happen.

Of course, an infected wound or certain higher-risk wounds are a completely different conversation.

Sometimes the boring $4 tub of Vaseline wins. 😂

Same Expression Saturday 💉

Here’s a weird anatomy fact… 👂🏼

Humans actually have THREE little muscles designed to move each ear.

Most of us barely use them anymore.. but if you’re one of the people who can wiggle your ears, you’re voluntarily activating muscles that are essentially evolutionary leftovers from when ear movement was much more useful. 🤯

And here’s the cool part: those tiny ear muscles are part of the same superficial muscular system of the scalp as the frontalis (the muscle creating those forehead lines you see above).

So yes… ear wiggling and forehead wrinkles are distant anatomical cousins. 😂

We’ve had a few questions about the recent news regarding Thorne, so we wanted to address it. 🤍

Yes, P&G has announced plans to acquire Thorne. We understand why that may make some people hesitant, but at this point, nothing has changed about the Thorne products we carry or recommend.

We’ve chosen Thorne because of their commitment to quality, testing, and transparency.

We’ll continue to pay attention to the products, formulations, sourcing, and quality standards moving forward. If those standards ever change, we’ll reevaluate what we carry, just like we would with any brand.

For now, we still feel comfortable recommending the Thorne products we use and carry. 🤍

💧 Reminder: We DO make house calls… just usually not 7.5-hour ones. 😂💉

✈️ A little office update… 🤍

From August 12–20, I’ll be completely out of the office and intentionally unplugged.

If you text, call, email, or send a DM during that time, I won’t see it until I return on August 21.

One of the things I value most is giving every patient my undivided attention when they’re in my chair. You deserve to feel heard, never rushed, and know that my focus is entirely on you.

The two people who deserve that same version of me are my husband and my son.

So before another school year begins, I’m pressing pause on work, putting away my phone, and soaking up every moment with my family. ❤️

Thank you for supporting my small business, for respecting this time away, and for making it possible for me to do work I truly love and be fully present for the people I love most.

💉 Confession from an injector…

I used to think there was a “right” way to treat every forehead.

I was wrong.

Early in my career, I thought everyone should keep lots of natural movement.

Then I realized something…

The best result isn’t the one I like.

It’s the one my patient likes. 🤍

Some people want lots of expression.
Some people want very little movement.

Neither is wrong.

The difference isn’t that she can’t move…

It’s that we customized her treatment to her goals—not mine.

That’s why one of my favorite consultation questions is:

“On a scale of 0–10… where do you want to be?”

0️⃣ = I want to keep all my natural movement.

🔟 = I want as little movement as possible. 🥶

There isn’t a right answer.
