𩱠THE BRA DRIVE IS BACK!š©±
Iām collecting new or gently used bras for I Support the Girls - Fredericksburg, VA and theyāve made me this beautiful little flyer to help spread the word. š
Last year, someone dropped off an ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE donationāweāre talking a stuffed contractor bag full of bras. I still donāt know who you are, mysterious bra fairy, but **THANK YOU.** š You set the bar VERY high.
Meanwhileā¦this yearās collection basket has been sitting here for a week and currently contains **two bras. Both are mine. š
So, friends and clients: go clean out your dresser
Have a bra you donāt wear anymore?
ā”ļø Bring it in.
Want to buy a new one to donate?
ā”ļø Even better.
Or, perhaps my favorite option:
ā”ļø Leave your bra after your massage. (I will wash it)
All sizes are welcome, and donations will go toward supporting people in our community who need them.
Letās see if we can fill this basket again. š©±š
Thank you to I Support the Girls for making the flyer and for the work you do in our community!

A text to myself from a client:
For a little context Christina Lackey stepped into our session to help my client with her stomach issues...basically her session turned into a tandem massage.
Abdominal massage can help support intestinal mobility and encourage movement in the digestive tract. It can help with constipation, gas, sluggish gut.
Gentle abdominal work can provide mechanical stimulation while also helping relax the abdominal wall and nervous system.
But it isn't appropriate for every stomach issue.** Acute diverticulitis, unexplained abdominal pain, fever, vomiting, severe symptoms, or suspected obstruction need medical evaluationānot massage.
Abdominal massage can be a complementary therapy, not a replacement for healthcare.
Sometimes your gut just needs a little help getting things moving.

Yesterday I was talking about Yellow Bike being family-friendly, let's talk about the other members of our family. š¾
**Service dogs are always welcome in my studio!
And honestly, dogs will always hold a pretty special place in my heart.
Iāve completed training in canine massage therapy. There isnāt currently a Virginia-governed certification for canine massage massage, but Geezer(my dog) needed rehab as a baby and I was able to help him..it was something I wanted to learn because it connects so closely to where I come from.
Also my grandmother practiced equine craniosacral work and canine massage therapy and published 2 books on those subjects.
So when I say Yellow Bike is family-friendly and dog-friendly, that's not just a cute marketing line.
It's personal.
If you're part of the family, youāre welcome here. š¾š

If we consider massage therapy part of healthcare and body maintenance, then access to that care has to account for real life.
People have kids.
People have jobs.
People don't always have childcare.
And sometimes the only 60 minutes you can find to take care of your body is the 60 minutes when your kid has to come with you.
Parents bring their kids into my sessions all the time. They do homework, watch a movie, hang out, or just chill in the room while Mom or Dad gets some much-needed bodywork.
I don't think healthcare should be designed around the idea that only one person in a family needs care at a time:
The whole family matters.
I'll make room for that.
Healthcare should meet people in the middle.

Yesterday at Bubble Planet Experience , we talked about sensory processing and how differently people experience touch.
That conversation made me think more about touch and it also reinforced something I already believe about massage therapy:
I won't ever try to convince you to get a massage.
If someone tells me, "I don't like being touched," I'm not going to follow that up with:
"Oh, but you'd LOVE a good massage."
No.
I believe you and respect that...
Massage is an incredibly personal sensory experience. Pressure, touch, movement, temperature, sound, even being physically vulnerable on a massage table ā your body is processing all of it.
Some people love it.
Some don't.
Some people love deep pressure but hate light touch.
Some people don't want their feet touched.
Some people don't want someone moving their limbs.
Some people simply don't enjoy massage.
And that's okay!
I don't think massage therapists should have to convince people that they secretly need massage.
My job isn't to talk you into wanting touch.
My job is to provide a professional, respectful experience if therapeutic touch is something you actually want/need.
And once you've told me you don't?
I'm not trying to change your mind.

Today I will be providing chair massage for the City of Fredericksburgās Employee Appreciation Day.
Iāve been working with the City for 10+ years, providing chair massage for their employeesālong before Yellow Bike existed and I'm honored to be invited back for today's event.
So, if youāre planning an employee appreciation or wellness event, let us make one part of your job easy.
You donāt need to coordinate massage therapists, equipment, supplies, setup or cleanup.
You provide a small space. We show up, set up, take care of your employees, and pack everything back up when weāre done.
āļø Easy to add to an existing event
āļø Minimal space required
āļø No private rooms necessary
āļø Short sessions = more employees served
āļø Professional and fully self-contained
āļø A wellness experience employees actually get to participate in
