🧠 MASSAGE FACT: Where it hurts isn’t always where the problem is.

Ever point to one specific spot and say, “THIS is where I need you to work”? 😂

Here’s the interesting part: sometimes that painful spot is just the messenger.

Muscles work together in groups and chains. When one area is tight, weak, overworked, or compensating, another area may start doing more work than it was designed to do.

For example:

💆‍♀️ Neck pain may be influenced by tightness through the chest and shoulders.

🍑 Low back discomfort can sometimes involve tight or overworked muscles around the hips and glutes.

🦵 Knee discomfort may be affected by tension in muscles surrounding the hips and thighs.

🤕 Headaches can sometimes be associated with muscular tension through the neck, shoulders, jaw, and upper back.

That’s one reason a therapeutic massage may involve working areas around your discomfort instead of spending the entire session attacking the one spot that hurts.

The body is connected, and sometimes the best way to help one area is to figure out what else has been making it work overtime. 🙌

Massage isn’t just about chasing pain. It’s about looking at the bigger picture.
