This is my craft and I love what I do! Hairstylist

Your phone camera isn’t bad. Your pro camera is just telling a different story. 📱📸
Same hair. Same color. Same lighting. Two completely different captures.
The iPhone gives you bright, crisp + instantly postable.
The Sony Alpha + 50mm lens gives you depth, richness, dimension, and that expensive editorial feel.
And for hair photography, that difference matters when you’re trying to show the true tone, shine + dimension of a brunette.
But here’s the real question: which side are you choosing, iPhone or Sony? 👇
At this age, if the jeans make my ass look good, they’re in style. PERIOD. 🍑
I survived 15 years of skinny jeans. I will not be bullied by another denim trend. Respectfully, my millennial self has found its forever jeans. 😂
Are we still following trends or have we entered our IDGAF era?
The COGNAC GLAZE hair results you were waiting for! Redken
For this client we wanted blends, bounce, and balance in her overall look, while still looking brunette!
I lightened her with Blonde IQ 7 and 20 vol for controlled warmth in her lift.
And make sure you SAVE this Redken Shades EQ gloss for your next fall inspo!

Her brunette was so blended, it forgot to have a personality. 🤎 Redken
Grown-out color, no real contrast, and dimension that had lost its impact.
The goal? Break up the old color, reintroduce intentional light and depth, and give this brunette something to SAY.
Come back for PART 2 to see her results!!
If you leave my class knowing how to copy me, I didn’t do my job. Redken
One of my favorite parts of teaching is getting to talk about the WHY behind hair color, not just the placement, formula or technique.
Your next client isn’t going to walk in with the exact same canvas as my model. And one technique often needs to be adapted for each client
I don’t want to teach you my answer. I want to give you enough understanding that you can figure out your answer behind the chair.
That’s the kind of hair education I believe actually makes us better hairstylists.
Also… I had the perfect video of me teaching this IN CLASS and somehow forgot to save it. 😂
So please enjoy me yapping about education while simultaneously failing at content creation.
Stylists: do you want education to show you WHAT to, or teach you how to decide what to do? 👇
If you’ve been trying to recreate the Alix Earle curl, THIS is the part you’re probably missing. 👀 Redken
The Alix Earle hair formula: big, bouncy curls, tons of volume, smooth ends and somehow it still looks effortless.
Which is rude, because we absolutely put effort into it. 😂
For that soft, bouncy blowout look:
✨ Use larger sections instead of tiny curls
✨ Curl towards the face
✨ Keep the ends curled
✨ Get that front section UP for volume
✨ And DO. NOT. TOUCH. until those curls are completely cool
Then rake it out and let the magic happen.
Because the difference between “I curled my hair” and that Alix Earle blowout is all in the finish.
Save this Alix Earle curl tutorial for your next night out and send it to the friend whose curls are still giving 2012 prom. 😂
Hand-painted balayage is becoming a lost craft, and I refuse to let it. 🎨 Redken
There’s something about painting lightener directly onto the hair that can’t be replicated by following a foil pattern.
The saturation. The placement. Knowing where to push brightness and where to leave depth. It’s part technique, part intuition, and a whole lot of understanding how hair will actually fall.
Painted with Redken Blonde IQ 9+ and 20 vol. for this one.
The paint ➡️ the payoff.
Stylists: are we keeping hand-painted hair alive? 👇
Nearly 18 years behind the chair and apparently I’ve learned a few things. 😂
I sit down now. I eat lunch. I say no. I don’t need 47 foils to prove a point.
Have I figured out how to stop equating exhaustion with success?
Absolutely not. Stay tuned for next year
Experience doesn’t mean you have it all figured out, it just means you’ve figured out which things you’re officially too tired to keep doing. 😂
Veteran stylists: what have you officially retired from behind the chair? 👇🏼
Plot twist: I highlighted her hair to make it look DARKER. 👀 Redken
She didn’t need to be blonder…she needed dimension.
By strategically lightening less hair and creating contrast in the right places, her overall color actually reads richer, deeper and more intentional.
Dimensional brunette isn’t about making everything dark.
Sometimes you need a little light to make the depth hit harder. 🤌🏼
Stylists: would you have reached for the lightener here…or gone straight to adding depth?
