☀️All the fencing has been torn down! Back in the brush was an old wheelchair , a tin table top from the 60s and some plastic buckets! Lots of barbed wire. Our Gnome shelters 🧌🧚‍♂️ have been left intact and after it’s all finished we can work on the area with the spring. 💦

🦮The dogs are becoming more accustomed to the surroundings and no longer bark at the cows .
🪿Goose, altho still a rowdy puppy, is staying close when we walk so even though this has been a challenge, maybe the time was needed to devote to him rather than turn him loose in a new open area . He’s actually sitting and watching again.
🩷We know there’s more challenges ahead, but we’re starting to relax a bit

🦮We’re still walking the dogs around the old fence line. The old stuff is being dug up before they build the new.
🩷Beatrix is finally feeling at home and it’s so fun to see!
The farm hand mentioned “Jeff” the owner of Barktopia as he’s been such a support system for us to hang in there. (Along with our family)
Dogs need the same amount of understanding as people when such big changes are made. Sometimes more, as they just don’t understand the reasons for boarding and basements. It’s not permanent for these guys, but they don’t know that yet.

The truck dumping the fence supplies….

Photos from Columbine Farm's post 10/05/2026

☀️Today the fencing came. The farmhand is outside with the truck and I’m in the basement reassuring the dogs this is not a major attack from an unusual predator. 🚚
🪿Of course Beatrix is not feeling threatened but Goose had to look .
We’re getting closer to letting them be outside and on their own property.
🫣It’ll be another learning curve ahead though… stay tuned.. video of the truck dumping next.

🦌🦌Watching the property this afternoon. We knew there were deer back in the forest, but we finally were able to see one today.

Aside from our move ..
📧I received an email today about a sale on products since the holidays are coming. It’s pretty scary with inflation…

🧈I used to use cocoa butter in my formulas for soap, etc.
Well, cocoa butter sky rocketed about 2 years ago and tripled in price.
BUT, no problem, I actually loved Kokum butter so I developed recipes to use it in the soap, the lotion, and the lotion bars. It helps make soap bars hard, and creates a hydrating, moisturizing, fast absorbing lotion that does not clog pores.

👀Looking at this current sale, I see Kokum butter has doubled. The sale prices aren’t too helpful when Kokum butter used to be $50 for 5 pounds and of course cocoa butter was even less. I’ll have to think about pricing …

🌳🪾Good Morning!! Yesterday evening we walked the dogs along the old fence line at the “end” of the pasture.
🌳🍁This area divides us between another neighbor. It’s a small stretch of forest, including white pine, honeysuckle, and various plants and foliage . There is a small spring which is basically mud right now, but the farmhand will work on that. As much as possible will be kept when the new fencing is placed.
🧚🧌🐉I do think gnomes and faeries live down there.

🐴🍁Good morning October 1st! Watching the area and just learned after the pasture is baled and all is clear, the horses are let out!

🐐Sometime today, our fencing is going to be dropped off. Getting ready to move ahead on our own pasture!

Oh my gosh, the rest of the process! And this is how it’s done! Right across the street ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Our street is on the side of our house. Across the street is our neighbors “yard”. Yesterday early evening we were watching the orchard grass being baled.
