Here is my story:
✨ Licensed cosmetologist since 2016
✨ Specializing in hair removal since 2020
✨ Business owner since 2025
✨ Sugaring + spray tanning
✨ Creating a space where women can feel comfortable, confident & cared for

I specialize in full body hair removal using an organic, all natural sugar paste. Using products free of chemicals, resins, and any harsh ingredients, has always been my number 1 priority. If something isn’t going on my skin, you can guarantee it won’t be going on yours either!

My all time favorite service, in which I also specialize in, are Brazilian services. With many years of experience & multiple sources of training, I’ve grown to love them.

I’m sure you’re all curious about my least favorite service, and although I do truly enjoy each of them. If I had to pick, it would be full arms 😆 the only reason I’d say so, is because the hair grows in multiple directions, making it a bit challenging. But still satisfying nonetheless 😋

Once I became pretty well established in hair removal, I added in custom spray tanning to my services 🤎

Again, using an all natural, organic brand. 🚫 NO harsh ingredients allowed here!

Being able to implement one more service to provide confidence in my clients, has been a blessing 😊

BUT enough about my work, this page speaks pretty well about what it is I do… let’s move on to who I am, and who runs SunGold Beauty Lounge! ➡️

I’ve had a long, rough journey before this business. Not knowing the path God had in store for me, new job after new job trying to find a passion.

2020 came around and I got an offer to work for a waxing company. I thought “I’ll give it a try but idk that I’ll stay”. HA! God knew exactly what He was doing.

My heart grew so big and so full as soon as my training course had started. And this wasn’t about the wax.

The ladies I meet every single day, the conversations I have, the milestones I get to witness, the tears and prayers I get to be a part of, and much much more. THAT is what I fell in love with in this career path.

My Father had opened my heart up, and showed me a passion

Wow. 10 years already?!

I went from not knowing what I wanted to do with my life, to getting my cosmetology license. From 12+ hour days of working behind the chair, breaking my back and neck giving pedicures, to quitting completely.

To then God showing me a path I never thought I’d want.
Falling in love with waxing, helping other women feel more confident in their skin (literally).

And then there’s today… owning a business in the career I was hesitant to join, but so quickly grew to love.

If you would have asked 20 year old Makenzie where she saw herself in 10 years.. her answer would have been “I don’t know”. Because I didn’t know, I had no clear vision of my life back then. I had no passion for a job, little motivation to do anything more than a 9-5, and overall felt completely lost in this world.

From multiple people of my past telling me that I’m “not fit to be a leader”, or that I “don’t have what it takes to run a business” — with which I came to believe and told myself the same.

But GOD. He truly said “watch this”. And molded me into the woman He always knew I’d be.

I have my God, my family, and my clients to thank for getting me to where I am RIGHT NOW. I could never do this on my own or without any of you. From the absolute depths of my heart; thank you.

Unlike 10 years ago, I have dreams and goals to come in the next 10 years and I cannot wait to have you come along with me.

I always knew the traditional college path wasn’t for me.

My creative, adhd brain couldn’t imagine 5 more years with my head in the books, butt in a chair, and brain focused on the same stuff, different day.

After graduating high school a year early, I gave college a shot. One month later, I dropped out. And that’s when the fun began.

Looking back, the beauty industry was exactly where I was meant to be. The art. The creativity. Learning something NEW every single day. The freedom to move, create, learn, work, and grow in ways that feel true to me.

And most importantly, the ability to build something of my own and do things my way.

I may not be a college graduate, but I am a business owner, a creative, and a woman building a life I love.

And thank you to each of my clients, without you I couldn’t create this space & continue doing what I was made to do.
