Nathan's Hair Design
Over 30 years experience as a hair stylist and salon owner. I am experienced in hair cutting, styling, perming, hair coloring, foiling, and facial waxing.
I wanted to let everyone know that after the fire at my business location at 1578 Dover Rd, I will be working at The Natural Look hair salon at 1024 Suncook Valley Rd., route 28. The Dover Rd. location is too severely damaged for the tenants to stay there. I rather doubt I will return to Dover Rd. I will begin working at the new salon Tuesday, July 1. I will be booth renting and continue with my same hours and prices. The location where the Natural Look salon is located in a large commercial building with numerous businesses. It is located behind a large commercial equipment business. There is a large sign near the road with all the business names on it. There are no stairs on the property, which is huge help to my older clientele. There are two full time hair stylists, a part time hairstylist, a barber, a massage therapist and an esthetician are working at the salon. I will be using my personal cell phone for my business as well. 603-370-7837. You can call or text me. I look forward to seeing everyone at my new location.

Nice surprise from a client this .
Had a nice visit with a new ninety eight year old client who lives with her two daughter in a lovely newer home on Northwood Lake. One of her daughters came to my salon to try meet out as a new stylist earlier this week. I think they are both pleased. They live on the same road as a former client who passed away years ago. I tried to tell them her name, but I can't remember her last name so far. Today's client has a good mind, but is hard of hearing. Thankfully she wears hearing aids. On the way home after work I saw a beautiful skyline. Incredible colors. Nice finish to a good day.
Just had an appointment with a client who I hadn't seen since before the pandemic started. So good to see a long term client. We've known each other for decades. We always have great conversations. His hair was in a long enough ponytail to donate to Locks of Love. I recently saw another client whose husband was cutting her hair. Her son is getting married this summer and she needed a decent cut. So good to see her as well. We both grew up in the same town, so we know some of the same people. Continue to be grateful for my profession.
Met an interesting older man today. On of my long term clients had a woman approach her at Walmart about her attractive hairstyle this summer. The new client and her husband just happen to live in Epsom, NH where my salon is located. The woman has come to my salon twice. We have great visits. I went to their home to cut the husbands hair today. He has mobility issues. He is retired from the miltary. Very pleasant conversation. He prefers to come to my small salon where I work alone due to COVID. He feels he can deal with a few steps into the building. He reminded me of a former client of mine that was an engineer. Both men share wavy hair, slim and are petite. Amazing how clients come in and out of my life, but I am blessed to visit with them and make them look better.
Had a great visit today with two new clients. The father and son are leaving soon to head back to NYC. Their family owns property on Bow Lake in Strafford . When the dad called I noticed an accent. He is originally from England. I told him my dad's ancestors are originally from England. I told him I have visited England as a tourist. He moved to NYC decades ago and fell in love with it. The dad had COVID-19 in March. His son said it was scary going through that. Hopefully I'll see them next summer. In my business I've met many summer residents due to my business being close to various lakes & ponds in the area. I've met some great people over the years. A deceased client of mine was originally from England. She was a war bride. Towards the end of her life I did her hair at her lovely Victoria cottage on Jenness Pond in Northwood. I felt like I was visiting On Golden Pond. Even in her nineties she had mainly brown hair. Amazing! I treasure all the people I've met in my business in my lifetime. I even think about clients who passed decades ago with fond memories of them. One especially dear elderly client who I knew when I was in my early twenties would bring me freshly baked Duncan Hines brownies. Amazing how good her boxed brownies tasted. She always said it's all in the timing of the baking. She was a weekly client who had colored and permed hair. She would come in weekly for shampoo and sets. Great conversations with her as well as lots of other great clients over the years. I am blessed. 🙂❤️
A client sometimes completely surprises me. All I can say is human beings can be so supportive in many different ways. The last few months have been difficult but my clients continue to brighten my days in various ways. 🙂❤️
The busiest week in my work history this past week. It is a week I will never forget. I chose to work Monday through Saturday to try to reach as many clients as possible. My clients were appreciative to have me working again after six weeks off due to the virus. I was amazed how my clients tried to be as cooperative as possible. Not blowdrying anyone's hair allowed me to have a little break for disinfecting between clients. Some clients aren't ready to come in yet. I totally understand. I was amazed at how supportive my clients are. No one got upset with having to wear a mask. Most people don't like their masks, but hopefully we'll find what works for us. We may be wearing them for a long time. 😷
I will reopen on Monday, May 11 @ 9 am. Please call my business phone and leave messages or send me a message through my business or personal page. All clients must wear masks. Only color retouches and haircuts right now. No blow drying temporarily. No highlighting or perms right now. Anxious to start seeing clients. The time off has been nice, but still enjoy working. I will be wearing a mask as well as a face shield. It will be another learning curve.
Hi everyone, Most of you know that my salon is closed for the duration of the Coronavirus. I will reopen when the State of NH allows us to reopen. Hopefully at the beginning of May. I will be in touch with those of you that have booked appointments. I will continue to monitor phone messages. Stay safe!
