Why Lander Blue 🩵
I’ve never really shared the story behind Lander Blue eNVy Hair Co., and there’s actually a lot more meaning behind the name than just loving turquoise.
I grew up in Battle Mountain, Nevada, and mining runs pretty deep in my family. My dad is a third-generation miner and was raised turquoise mining, so mining has always just been a part of life and where I come from.
But there’s a reason I chose Lander Blue specifically.
Lander Blue turquoise was discovered in the 1970s right in Lander County, in the Tenabo area not far from Battle Mountain. Only a very small amount was ever recovered, which is why genuine Lander Blue is considered incredibly rare and is so hard to find today.
And that’s where the name becomes a lot more personal for me.
My grandparents lived in Tenabo shortly after they were married while my grandpa was mining there. The old black-and-white photo in this post is the town of Tenabo, and the other is my dad and grandma standing in the window of the house she and my grandpa actually lived in.
So when it came time to name my salon, Lander Blue just made sense.
It came from the same little piece of Nevada that holds part of my family’s history, and I loved what Lander Blue was in its own right—rare, beautiful, special and not something you can find just anywhere.
That’s what I wanted my salon to feel like too.
I wanted to build something that felt like me. Something personal and a little different. Something that had a story behind it and meant more to me than just a cute name on a sign.
And of course, the NV in eNVy was intentional too. 😂 Because apparently one Nevada reference wasn’t enough for me.
I’m really proud of where I come from, and the older I get, the more I appreciate the history behind it. I love that the name I chose for something I built myself also carries a little piece of my family and the place I call home 🩵

A little piece of Nevada history, a whole lot of family history, and something rare enough to stand out.
