Never underestimate the power of a haircut.” ✂️ I say it all the time, but today I want to tell you why.

When we think about hair damage, we usually think of over-processing, heat damage, tension, or breakage. But something we don’t talk about nearly enough is how much our overall health can affect our hair.

I’ve always been the poster child for leaving my hair alone — protecting it, nurturing it, and doing everything I can to encourage healthy growth. And yet, after three major surgeries in six months, the shock and stress on my body, anesthesia, medications, lymphedema, and severe complications along the way… my hair had never felt worse.

As a trichology-focused hairstylist, I knew exactly what was happening. And I also knew something that can be hard to accept:

Some damage can’t be repaired. It has to be removed.

That’s where the haircut comes in. ✂️ And honestly? Hair has a funny way of teaching us lessons about life. So often, we hold onto “dead” things — things we know we need to cut out or cut off — because we’re afraid of what happens after we let go.

But sometimes the cut is exactly what sets you free. And once you make that cut? You make room for something healthier to grow. 🤍
