This year marks my 20th year since I started running. There have been a lot of miles, many friends, and more smiles and laughter than there have been tears. I registered for the TC 10 Mile to commemorate this milestone. It’s the same course I watched the Twin Cities Marathon way back in 1999 when I realized I wanted to be a runner so this was symbolic in more ways than one.
An added bonus was my cousin Lainie Johnson flew out to run it as well. We couldn’t have scripted more beautiful weather or a better weekend for this milestone.
Runners talk a lot about goal times but my goal was simply to run as well as I could, walk if I needed to, and smile as much as possible.
Check.
Check.
Check.

Twin Cities In Motion

I’ve been spinning in rage since I first heard about the victims at LSU and Cornell University but it definitely hit a new level yesterday. As an SA survivor I needed a reprieve today and took the moment to do something that I love…decorating my porch for Halloween.
It was truly hard to not think what I was doing was superficial but I needed to give my soul a respite. I reminded myself of the joy I feel seeing all the costumes and hear the laughter of the trick or treaters on Halloween night.
And the universe gave me a little treat of my own. If you zoom in you can see the praying mantis on the window. She watched me and, yes I talked to her while I was working. She was a reminder of female energy.
Stillness.
Precision.
Prudence.
I am watching behaviors, creating a plan, and when I choose to I will act with wisdom, self-control, and care.
Until then, the survivor in me sees the survivor in you. 🙏
