Durham Writers' Salon
We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of every month, 7-9 PM in the Back Room of the Mothership. We write from prompts with the option to share. Newcomers welcome.
Fellow Durham Writers:
As you've probably guessed, Writers' Salon meetings will be canceled until social distancing restrictions are lifted. Because of the personalized nature of this group, I don't envision an easy way to bring the Writers' Salon online. That said, I'm open to ideas about ways to stay in community while we remain apart, so please feel free to reach out (in comments below or in a DM) with suggestions or announcements.
I hope you are finding time during this difficult period to make space for your writing.
Take care and stay safe đź’•.
Monthly Writers' Salon is tomorrow!
15 Minute Meet-and-Greet followed by 1 hour of dedicated writing followed by sharing and discussion. Bring your notebook/laptop and your current project!
See you there.

Lee Martin's blog is always filled with exceptional wisdom for writers. I love these tips for moving ahead with our writing in the New Year.
New Year, New Writing: Tips for Moving Ahead Here we are at the start of another year, and though the winter weather has yet to be harsh here in central Ohio, we can safely assume that it will eventually slap us with cold and snow. We know this because we’ve lived through it before and will surely do so again. Each flip of the

Friends of Writers' Salon, here's the update you've been waiting for!
In August 2014, Durham Writers’ Salon grew from a seed planted by writers at the Mothership and flourished into a thriving community space. For its next iteration (starting in December 2019!), care of Writers’ Salon will fall to local writer and Durhamite Katherine Van Dis (author of Palmetto Blog Durham and other works of short fiction).
This time around, Durham Writers’ Salon will be project-focused. So, whether you’re in the middle of a writing project, have a project in a drawer you’ve been meaning to dust off, or have been yearning to get something started - this is your place. Our aim is to create dedicated time and space for our projects (with a strong dose of community support for good measure!). We’ll start by sharing who we are and what we’re working on and then dive into a solid hour of dedicated work time (feel free to bring whatever fuel you need - snacks and drinks are welcome!). We’ll end the evening with a follow-up round of reflections and encouragement. Whatever your medium (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, screenplay), you’re welcome to join. Please just bring good vibes, a willingness to work and of course, your laptop or notebook!
Join us from 7pm - 9pm the final Monday of each month, starting December 30th, 2019!
