My favorite question to ask you during consultations is “why?”
Why do you use what you use?
How do you decide what to pick off the shelf to try?
I love breaking down ingredients with you and discussing the when and how when it comes to understanding what’s going to give you your desired results.
I know that not everyone has the accessibility of sitting in my chair to have these deep sessions, due to distance and the fact that we’re in a whole panini. And that is why I’ve created the Yes Her Home Studio e-course to help you get the salon experience at home!
Y’all ready?!
Make sure you’re signed up to our newsletter (link in bio) as we approach launch! Be the first to grab a spot, as my first cohort of students will be small and intimate 🥰

I often get questions in my DMs about how to resolve the issue of dryness, breakage, what products to use, questions about technique, etc and I’m excited to house my answers to all those burning questions, along with visuals, in my new digital course!!!
We’ve wrapped up filming and editing, and I’m finally happy to announce that we are only days away from launch. If you’re as excited as I am, Go to my bio right to join my newsletter! When you join, you’ll be added to my list to get first dibs on seats.

✨𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 is one of those key words that a lot of naturals have latched on to, in pursuit of finding the perfect combination of products that "𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶". While porosity does play a role in understanding our hair, its definition has only been served to you in bite sized half-truths, which have sent a lot of us spiraling in a never ending loop of 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫.
1) 𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 as often as your feelings lol
2) porosity exists on a 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐦. Often times we're low-medium, medium-high, but we tend to identify on the extremes because of things we've been doing to our hair.
3) If you're naturally medium-low, and you use oily products that 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘦𝘭 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘭𝘦, it makes sense that you'd feel like you're super low porosity.
4) If you 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘱𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘺, or you 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫, with synthetic fibers rubbing up against your cuticle all 365, it wouldn't be surprising for your hair to be highly porous. Your hair is thirsty 💦 and will lose moisture quickly. High porosity is also a side effect of chemically treated or heat altered hair. Yes, some people are naturally on the medium-high side of the spectrum but in my experience behind the chair, I seldom come across people who are genetically on the extreme end of the spectrum.
5) Product companies latch on to what they think consumers care about. Because everyone is focusing on porosity, they're going to keep marketing products based off your miseducation.
🤓 A better use of your energy is unlearning what it means to moisturize hair. 𝗪𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠. You'll always be looking for "the right products" until you understand this fact. Focus on Cleansing, Conditioning, and Styling, on a weekly basis. Regardless of your porosity, clean hair accepts water, and quality conditioners help to lock it in. Styling products are like makeup : there to help you style and look cute till your next wash. Let’s learn How & When to use them.

Looking at the data gathered over my last 100 consultations, there’s a 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮𝘦 among those struggling with “dry hair”:
1) only shampoo once or twice a month
2) using very oily shampoos OR alternative cleansers like cowashes, clay masks and ACV, instead of shampoo
3) using oils to “seal in moisture”, or using products with ingredients that read: water, oil, oil, butter, oil, oil, and more oil.
These 3 things can starve the hair of moisture because dirty hair and oily hair have a 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘥𝘥𝘥𝘥 time accepting water. 𝐎𝐢𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐱. Build-up and water don’t mix.
One of the biggest misconceptions is that you have to find the “right products” to moisturize your hair based on your hair “type”. The truth is, hair needs water to thrive, 𝘯𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘵𝘺𝘱𝘦. 𝗪𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐫 🤷🏾♀️ And I’m not talking about spraying your hair with water with a spray bottle. I’m talking about getting water INSIDE the actual hair strand.
Here is how that works:
💦Because 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐨 has a higher pH than your hair’s normal pH, it not only cleans, but opens up the cuticle to accept and let water in.
💦Then comes 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐫, which has a lower pH, to seal in that water by smoothing down the cuticle. Dassit. That’s how hydration works. That’s how your hair drinks water.
🌱 After that, you follow up with products that are going to keep that water in there as best as they can, until the 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬. Because that’s what water does: it evaporates!
My favorite products usually include humectants that pull from the humidity in the air, which helps in 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. However, within a week that water is gone and must be put back in. You can sometimes push it to go a few more days, but scientifically it is unrealistic to spray water over a closed cuticle, expecting it to solve your dryness problem.
Hope this helps! If any part of this was new information to you, 𝘐’𝘥 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 in the comments below 🤗 let’s chat!

Each day I’m reminded that this work is about more than hair. It’s about 𝘩𝘦𝘭𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘴 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴 in our most raw form. To look at yourself in the mirror and to love what you see as you naturally are, is a beautiful thing. It’s 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥. It’s 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠. And when you heal, you heal for generations to come.
Investing in learning how to care for your natural hair allows you to teach proper hair care to your daughters, and theirs, and theirs.. ✨
Super excited and honored to be taking 13 of you the 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 next month! I’ll be documenting each journey here so keep your eyes glued 😉
If you missed a chance to book your appointment today as spots filled up quickly, no worries I still have a few consultation spots open, and we can get you started on your detox in preparation for March booking.

Hi Curlfriends! 🌀
There are a lot of 𝘯𝘦𝘸 faces here on my little corner of the internet so I wanted to reintroduce myself 🤗
✨ My name is 𝘌𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘦, I just turned 24 last month. I grew up in Accra, Ghana and I now live in Durham, NC. I am the daughter of 2 immigrant entrepreneurs, the eldest (and shortest) sister of 3, and girlfriend of 5 years to the most wonderful human being 🥰
✨ I am extremely 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 about afro beats, mangos, plantains, true crime podcasts, dystopian sci-fi, and of course 𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳 😍
✨ After being a 𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐫 for 5 years, I recently pivoted my business to 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 my clients on how to care for their own 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞. When salons shut down last year due to covid, it dawned on me that my 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘨𝘨𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 without having access to getting their hair braided. It bothered me that without braids, 𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘶𝘴 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘵.
✨ My entrepreneurial spirit kicked in and I immediately began to 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐝 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 so that I could be a catalyst for the change 𝐈’𝐝 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞: 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧.
✊🏾4 and a half courses later, I am excited to share the many 𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳-𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 I’ve had the honor of being a part of. 𝗪𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞, and stay tuned to see some 𝐛𝐨𝐦𝐛 𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐥 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲𝐬!

I value every single person that sits in my chair ✨ It’s more than hair to me, because I know that giving you autonomy to care for your own hair at home empowers you to make boss babe moves 💁🏾♀️ and I love to see us win!
The reality is, It’s hard to make boss moves when you’re spending hours on your hair, wasting money on products that don’t work, and feeling frustrated with not knowing what to do with it.
Are you ready to reclaim your time?

I can’t think of anything more satisfying than giving each curl a place to live ☺️💇🏾♀️
I always emphasize shape over length, because when your curls are shaped you can wear any style with confidence. Your twist outs stop looking awkward and spacey, your wash and go’s last all week, and you still turn heads even when your fro shrinks.
Many of us have an imbalanced shape because of DIY trims, varying curl patterns, wearing the hair stretched in a puff often, etc. There are several things that contribute to the mullet, including getting straight cuts. If you primarily wear your hair in natural styles and never really wear it straight, consider partnering with a professional and explore getting a curly cut ✨
It was an honor getting to show my client her curls for the first time. She completed her from oils and butters before her appointment, which allowed for water to do its thang 💦 🙌🏾
