Yesterday was about so much more than a haircut.

For the second year in a row, 7CUTZABOVENC hosted Cutz for a Purpose, providing FREE haircuts for children with special needs. And looking back at these pictures, my heart is FULL. 🥹💜

Some sat in the chair. Some needed a tablet. Some needed a toy. Some needed a break. Some needed reassurance, patience, a high-five, or simply the freedom to do things THEIR way.

And that’s exactly what this mission is about.

The haircut is the goal, but the child comes FIRST. 💯

There is no rushing. No judgment. No expectation that every child has to experience a haircut the same way. We meet them where they are, build trust, celebrate the small victories, and make sure they leave knowing they are SAFE, SEEN, and SUPPORTED. 🧩❤️

A HUGE thank you to The Oxford Team at Compass and the Focus Outreach Team for partnering with me and helping make yesterday possible. Thank you to every parent, caregiver, volunteer, and especially every child who trusted me enough to enter their space. That trust means EVERYTHING to me.

Two years in a row. One purpose. Many lives changed.

For many children with special needs, something as simple as a haircut can be overwhelming. That’s why we’ve created an experience centered around patience, compassion, understanding, and dignity—because every child deserves to feel seen, celebrated, and confident.

Some days remind me that this work has never been just about haircuts. ❤️💈

Today, while I was serving one of the nursing homes I visit each week, the sister of one of my sweet clients, Ms. L.P., stopped by to see me.

Ms. L.P. passed away last month, and I still find myself walking into Cadence hoping to see her every time I come through those doors. Her family had already blessed the 7CUTZABOVENC Sprinter fundraiser, but today her sister surprised me with another $100 donation and the most beautiful handwritten card. I can’t even begin to explain what that meant to me.

Some people may see a barber. But moments like this remind me that we’re building relationships, becoming family, and creating memories that last far beyond a haircut.

I’ll never forget Ms. L.P.‘s beautiful ocean-blue eyes, the way she’d peacefully drift off to sleep while I was shampooing her hair, or how she’d always leave with a fistful of lollipops. Those little moments became some of my favorite memories, and I will cherish them forever.

To Ms. L.P.‘s family: thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and for allowing me to be a small part of her journey. Your love and support touched my heart more than you’ll ever know.

This is why I do what I do. Every shampoo. Every haircut. Every conversation. Every visit is about making someone feel seen, valued, and cared for.

Ms. L.P., thank you for every smile, every conversation, every peaceful nap during your shampoo, and every sweet memory. You are deeply missed, but never forgotten. 🤎

As of today, we’ve raised $2,513 toward our $85,000 goal! 🎉

Our mission is still the same:
By December, we’re believing we’ll purchase a $60,000 mobile barber van. The remaining funds will be used to transform the inside into a fully equipped, sensory-friendly mobile barbershop designed specifically for children with autism, individuals with special needs, veterans, and those who are homebound.

This isn’t just about buying a truck.

This is about creating a safe space on wheels where families don’t have to worry about the stress of a haircut. It’s about bringing confidence, dignity, patience, and understanding directly to the people who need it most.

We’re only getting started, and I truly believe something incredible is happening.

Yesterday, something happened that truly humbled me.

Someone reached out and shared that they don’t currently have a church home. They said they felt led to sow their tithes this month into 7CUTZABOVENC and our mission.

To say I was speechless is an understatement.

As a small business built on faith, compassion, and serving families with special needs, veterans, seniors, and our community, moments like this remind me that people don’t just see what we do—they believe in why we do it.

Thank you for trusting the vision. Thank you for believing in the mission. And thank You, God, for continuing to send encouragement in ways I never expect.

Every seed sown helps us move closer to creating more accessible haircare services, expanding our outreach, and one day opening our sensory-friendly training center, What Comes Before the Cut.
