HOW TO CARE FOR HYPERPIGMENTED SKIN
Professional skincare can directly affect the epidermis where melanocytes are located. By using skincare to control melanin production, you reduce hyperpigmentation and even your skin tone.
*Epidermis: a layer of skin, which protects the skin FIRST!*
*Melanocytes: melanin forming cell*
SO WHAT CAUSES HYPERPIGMENTATION?
Your skin has special cells called melanocytes, which create the melanin or pigment that gives your skin its color. When these pigment cells become damaged, they “misfire” ( produce too much melanin), which causes dark patches of skin to form.

Hyperpigmentation... WHAT IS IT??
It's a condition where small or large discolored patches of skin develop, usually on the face, neck and décolleté (shoulder area leading down to the chest).
You may see hyperpigmentation in the form of age spots, freckles or melasma (brown patches).
(Melasma is due to hormonal changes and is usually seen in women who are pregnant)
