DEARBORN, MI — Chance the Rapper is coming to Dearborn this weekend as one of the headliners for the 45th annual Dearborn Homecoming Festival at Ford Field Park.

The Grammy-winning rapper is scheduled to take the Sunset Stage at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, August 9. Entry to the festival and concert is free. Country star Martina McBride headlines Saturday night, while the weekend also includes carnival rides, food, vendors, live entertainment and fireworks following the Saturday and Sunday performances.

The best way to describe this event is that you'll be in the company of "good people". Bring some grub; little Sumthin-sumthin; lawn chairs and good vibes! The music is going to be banging Old School and House. You have a food time with your Detroit Friends. Free entry but donations are appreciated. Kids allowed.

Seven free backpack and school supply giveaways are coming up across Detroit.

Aug. 11: Back-to-School Supplies Giveaway, Wayne County, 4733 Conner St., 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Aug. 14: MiSide Back to School Bash, Kemeny Recreation Center, 2260 S. Fort St., noon to 4 p.m.
Aug. 15: Peace Over Pistols, 10700 W. Seven Mile Rd., noon to 4 p.m.
Aug. 20: Back-to-School Resource Party, Joseph Walker Williams Recreation Center, 8431 Rosa Parks Blvd., 2 to 6 p.m.
Aug. 22: Backpack Giveaway at the Co-op, Detroit People's Food Co-op, 8324 Woodward Ave., noon to 6 p.m.
Aug. 23: MOCAD Resource Fair, 4454 Woodward Ave., 1 to 3 p.m.

Racquet Up adds a bounce house, raffles, and free Kona Ice. Peace Over Pistols has 400 backpacks for K through 12, and kids have to be present to get one. MiSide moved venues this year, so it's Kemeny now, not Heilmann.
