Feeling overwhelmed right now, so I’m slowing down and taking it one assignment at a time. Reading, taking notes, and giving myself room to learn. Becoming a midwife means being a student again, and today I’m reminding myself that I don’t have to figure it all out at once. 📚💛
I stopped by this adorable little coffee truck and left with a good cup of coffee and a 50¢ mini art print. ☕️🎨
It’s the little details that make a stop memorable. I love finding places with personality, where you can grab a treat and discover something creative at the same time. The mini print is such a fun keepsake, and this truck was too cute not to share. 💛

What makes a ni**le shield a good fit?
Size is only one part of it. I also look at whether it feels comfortable, whether baby can latch deeply, and whether milk is transferring well. A shield can be a useful tool, but it helps to assess the whole feeding rather than choose one based on the number alone.
If a shield is causing pain or you’re unsure how much milk baby is getting, an IBCLC can help assess the fit and feeding.
I’m a multifaceted person, and I’m learning to make room for all the parts of me outside of birth work. Yesterday, I explored how to tell stories with technology at Adobe Create Now. Today, I got to be an art muse for some incredible Detroit creatives. 🎨
I love discovering new sides of myself, and I’m excited to see what stories I’ll tell with Adobe Firefly next. ✨

Happy Birthday Baby.
I spent the last three days exploring my city like a tourist while learning alongside other Water Warriors. 💧✊🏾
Did you know that losing access to running water can put families at risk of involvement with Child Protective Services?
Sit with that.
A family can be too poor to afford their water bill, have their water shut off, and then face the fear of CPS involvement because their home no longer has running water. Detroit families have lived this reality, and advocates have been sounding the alarm about the connection between water shutoffs, poverty, and family separation for years.
How do we punish a family for being poor instead of addressing why they cannot afford WATER?
Poverty is not neglect.
Water is not a luxury.
And struggling families need resources, not punishment.
These three days taught me that being a Water Warrior is about more than protecting our rivers. It’s understanding who has access to water, who doesn’t, and what happens to families when something as basic as turning on the faucet becomes unaffordable.
I came to explore Detroit. I left understanding my city, and the fight for water justice, on an entirely different level. 🌊💙

Now I’m finding a quiet corner, pulling out my notes, and getting ready for my evening class. 💻📖
