❤️‍🔥SPRAY TAN PREP -MY PREFERRED ROUTINE ❤️‍🔥

Want the most even, natural-looking and long-lasting spray tan? Here’s exactly how I recommend prepping your skin before your appointment.

🫧 EXFOLIATE 12–24 HOURS BEFORE
• Use an exfoliating mitt to remove dead skin and any old tan.
• Skip sugar scrubs! Most contain oils that can leave a barrier on the skin and interfere with solution absorption.
• Pay extra attention to elbows, knees, ankles, hands and feet.
• Don’t aggressively scrub until your skin is red or irritated we want clean, smooth skin, not angry skin. 😫

🪒 SHAVE 12–24 HOURS BEFORE
• Shave the day BEFORE your appointment whenever possible.
• If you can’t shave at least 12 hours beforehand, I would rather you not shave at all than shave immediately before your appointment.
• Freshly shaved/irritated skin can cause uneven development and sensitivity.

🚫 DAY OF YOUR TAN = BARE SKIN
Please arrive with completely clean, bare skin.

Avoid:
• Lotion/body butter
• Deodorant
• Perfume/body spray
• Body oils
• Makeup on areas being tanned
• Heavy skincare products
• Sunscreen

These can create a barrier and may cause the solution to develop unevenly or take on an unwanted green/ashy tone.

👗 WHAT TO WEAR
• Loose, dark clothing
• Loose pants or a dress
• Socks + open-toed shoes are ideal
• Avoid tight waistbands, bras, leggings, socks or anything that will rub against your fresh tan

💧 HYDRATION IS IMPORTANT!
• Drink plenty of water before and after your appointment.
• Hydrating internally really does make a difference in how your skin looks and how well it maintains a tan.
• Well-hydrated skin tends to give us a smoother application and a prettier fade.

🧴 YOUR BODY WASH MATTERS
Gentle cleansers are best before and after your tan.

Some of my favorites:
• Native
• Aveeno Skin Relief
• Method
• Cetaphil

Avoid harsh exfoliating washes and scrubs while you have your tan.

❤️‍🔥MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE
For maintaining your tan, I recommend:
• CeraVe Unscented
• Jergens Unscented
• Lubriderm
• Gold Bond

Moisturize at least twice a day once you’re cleared to shower.

Try to avoid products containing heavy oils, mineral oil, strong fragrances and drying alcohols when possible.

⚠️ PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE:
• Tinea versicolor this can cause the tan to develop patchily because the affected areas can respond differently to the solution.
• Eczema, psoriasis or very dry/flaky skin these areas may grab more solution or fade differently.
• Active irritation, rash, cuts or open skin we may need to avoid those areas or reschedule depending on the situation.
• A sunburn please wait until the skin has completely healed and stopped peeling.
• Recent waxing/sugaring freshly waxed skin needs time to calm down before tanning.
• Fresh tattoos or other recently treated skin please let me know beforehand.
• Any prescription skincare or strong exfoliating products such as retinoids, AHAs/BHAs or similar products these can affect how your tan develops and fades.

☀️ OTHER THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND
• Avoid getting a spray tan immediately after a workout, sauna or anything that leaves you hot and sweaty.
• Schedule manicures, pedicures, massages, waxing and other services before your spray tan whenever possible.
• If you have an event, I recommend getting your tan 1–2 days beforehand rather than the same day.

✨ MY BIGGEST TIP:
Your spray tan can only work with the skin you bring me! 🫶🏻The smoother, healthier and more hydrated your skin is, the better your tan will look and fade.

If you’re ever unsure whether a product, skin condition or service will affect your tan, just ask me before your appointment! I would much rather help you prep correctly than try to troubleshoot it afterward. ❤️‍🔥
