This looks like the beginning of a very important outing. In reality, we only made it as far as the backyard.

There’s something funny about choosing a nice dog collar for a plan that involves almost no travel at all. Still, the dog gets to be outside, and we get another excuse to take pictures. That sounds like a perfectly good afternoon.

Does your dog ever get dressed up for absolutely no special occasion?

I was ready several minutes ago, but I’ve tried to use the waiting time productively.

My collar is on, the interesting smells have been investigated, and I’ve checked on my favorite ball. I can’t think of anything else holding us up, which means I’m beginning to suspect the delay might be you.

What does your dog do while waiting for you to get moving?

I’m happy to help with the photo, but I think we might have different definitions of “just one more.”

You’ve seen the collar, you’ve seen my best angle, and I’m fairly sure there’s a usable picture in there somewhere. I would now like the rest of my afternoon back.

Does your dog have a clear way of telling you the photo session is over?

I understand that you wanted a nice photo of me in my collar. I just think the grass deserves some attention too.

You can keep looking for the perfect angle while I get on with the reason I thought we came outside. We both get something out of the afternoon that way.

How long would your dog stay interested in a photo session before choosing playtime?

We put the same collar on three dogs and somehow ended up with three different looks.

The Golden Retriever, Labrador, and Border Collie all make a good case for themselves. It’s the same accessory, but their faces and personalities change the whole picture. This is why choosing one photo always takes longer than expected.

Which of these three would you put on the cover?

Does your dog have a completely different idea of what a walk is supposed to be?

We picture a route and a reasonable time to get home. They seem to picture a detailed investigation of every interesting smell along the way. Somehow, the same short stretch can turn into an entire afternoon’s worth of business.

What’s the stop your dog always insists on making?

The walk is ordinary, but the dog collar apparently has other plans.

Some of us save the fancy things for special occasions. Others decide that getting out for a walk with the dog is occasion enough. We can see the argument for both, although this look is making it hard to stay neutral.

Would you save this collar for photos, or bring it out for everyday walks?

We thought we were just putting on a collar for a quick photo. A full camera roll later, here we are 😂

Do you have a favorite color you always choose for your dog, or do you like trying something different?

Some dogs need a little encouragement in front of the camera. This one looked ready to take over the whole shoot 😂

Would your dog walk straight into the spotlight or stay close to you?

Dogs have a way of making you feel like coming home is the best thing that happened all day?

Does your dog greet everyone like this, or is there one person who gets an extra-special welcome?
