Eyebrow threading originated in India and parts of the Middle and Far East. Unlike other, more abrasive depilation techniques, threading doesn’t involve harsh chemicals or sticky wax. Instead, a simple piece of cotton thread is rolled and twisted along the surface of the skin, ensnaring hairs and quickly removing them by their follicles with pinpoint accuracy. Unlike plucking, which removes one hair at a time, threading removes an entire line of hair at a time, resulting in a cleaner and more precise shaping of the brow. And unlike waxing, threading does not adversely affect the top layers of the skin. Henna is the Persian name for a tall, shrub-like plant known as Lawsonia inermis and is native to Asia and the Mediterranean coast of Africa. Due to Henna’s global popularity, it is now cultivated in warm and dry climates all over the world. To make the paste used for temporary Henna tattoos, its leaves are ground into a fine paste. It is this paste that serves as the primary medium in the art of Mehndi, the non-invasive, non-permanent staining of skin in tones ranging from light orange to dark brown. Mehndi has been practiced for centuries in regions such as India, North Africa and the Middle East as a form of ritual and celebration but has only recently gained popularity in America as a form of art and expression. Henna contains hennotannic acid, a dye that bonds with the collagen in skin cells and keratin of fingernails and hair, leaving behind a red coloring. Because only the top layer of the skin is affected by the paste, the resulting henna tattoo designs will gradually fade with time, typically lasting anywhere from two to four weeks.

Today is a day that feels incredibly special to me… Raanya Studios is officially celebrating 15 years! 🎉✨
Fifteen years.
When I first started this journey, I could only dream of what Raanya Studios might become. I never could have imagined all the beautiful people I would meet, the memories we would create, the celebrations I would be a part of, and the incredible support I would receive along the way.
And honestly, I wouldn’t be here today without you. ❤️
Every client who has sat in my chair, trusted me with a special occasion, recommended me to a friend or family member, returned year after year, shared a kind word, or simply supported my small business has been a part of this story.
Over the years, I’ve even been lucky enough to earn a few fun names along the way — Raanya, the Brow Queen, the Henna Queen… and, apparently, your therapist too! 😂❤️
And honestly, that last one makes me smile.
So many of you have told me that walking into the studio feels different, that you feel a beautiful, warm energy the moment you walk through the door, or that you feel like you’ve known me forever… even if it’s your very first visit.
That means more to me than I can ever put into words.
Because yes, I love what I do. I love brows, henna, beauty, and being creative. But what I’ve come to cherish most over these 15 years are the conversations, the laughter, the stories, the celebrations, the life updates, and the genuine connections we’ve shared along the way.
Sometimes you come in for a service and leave feeling a little lighter. Sometimes you come in needing a little beauty pick-me-up, and somehow we end up talking about life. And sometimes, you just need someone to listen. ❤️
That is something I never take for granted.
Raanya Studios has become so much more than a business to me. It has become a place where beautiful relationships have grown. One appointment, one conversation, and one memory at a time.
