Holistic skincare considers all aspects of who you are and considers mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional factors.
Anyone that has had stress acne, or rosacea flareups from stress can tell you this is true.
Ayurvedic medicine has been around for over 5000 years. The basic philosophy and ideology of Ayurvedic medicine is that we as humans are connected to nature and the five elements. Balance is the key to overall health.
In doing my research for a new article that will be published next month in Natural Awakenings magazine, I interviewed Vaidya Medha Garud, BAMS, PT, CLT, LMT, who serves as the Director of Ayurveda Programs at Shankara Ayurveda Wellness Spa in Boone North Carolina.
She gave me a very interesting perspective on how emotions affect skin health.

I see so many clients who are using products on their skin because they saw an influencer using it.
You should know that you have your own guidance system for making choices…even with skincare! It helps to gather as much information about the product as you can (Try to get some third party sources and opinions like from Reddit) to see if it matches your initial opinions.
Then just sit and think about the product….do you feel it would help your skin? Is it good for you?
This may sounds weird but if you’re in tune with yourself, you’ll feel the answer!
It’s a vibe.

Are you one of the millions of people that have seen the video of LeAnn Rimes releasing her trauma on camera?
it shows someone pressing on a trigger point in the back of her mouth, and this causes her to release an emotional response.
I do a technique called the Sculptural facial lift in which I massage all 42 muscles of the face, touch on relaxation Vegas nerve trigger points, and help increase circulation and move lymph.
Part of the technique involves massaging the masseter muscle muscles, which lie in the back of the mouth.
When people saw this video, they immediately messaged me and said “is this what you do?“
The answer is… Well, kind of.
Don’t come to me if you want me to release your trauma. This is something you need to work on with a therapist on your own over a long period of time. The technique I do can help create a sense of deep relaxation so possibly some subconscious things can come up to the surface for you.
