No matter what you’re putting on your eyes, anything is almost inevitable to cause at least a little bit of damage. Whether that be lash extensions, eyeliner, mascara, strip lashes, or especially individual or “cluster” lashes.
The reason for this, is simply because you’re consistently applying a foreign substance or product to your eye, that technically is not supposed to be there. As this may seem obvious, I have tons of people ask me about this.
How to avoid as much damage as possible:

-STAY AWAY from cluster and individual lashes. This is not only unsafe for your natural lashes solely because of the fact that they are usually applied to the natural lash itself, and multiple at a time. This causes damage and breakage because as your natural lashes grow out, they are all growing at different speeds. So if you have one cluster glued to multiple lashes at a time, the fastest growing lashes will in turn pull out the slower growing lashes, which, of course, causes thinning. These can also be insanely dangerous for your eye health and eye sight, as most people are applying them under the lash, directly on the water line.

-If using a mascara, strip lashes, and/or eyeliner, try adding in a gentle growth serum nightly to counteract any damage and add strength!

-And if you’re a lash extension enthusiast, do your research, and find someone you absolutely trust! Reaching out to different artist’s clients is always a great idea, looking for testimonials, and looking through example photos is definitely a must. If you have a good lash tech who is committed to their career and cares about the integrity of your lashes, there should be VERY minimal damage at all. So little to the point that you wouldn’t notice at all. Shown above is the aftermath of a professional removal, after YEARS of having extensions. And I’m talking around 4-5 years! As you can see, she still has a beautiful spread of natural lashes that would look amazing with a lift and tint, or even just a curl and mascara.
