Ok Yogis!! Are you ready to put into action what we have learned so far? Here is a yoga flow for you to try. We will be using chaturanga in between each side, remember, you can substitute this with cobra if that’s better for you. We start in downward facing dog…grab your mat and let’s go!!
Anterior pelvic tilt gets a bad rap in yoga⬇️ yes, you don’t want to live in a chronic anterior tilt all day, all the time… But that doesn’t mean it’s something we should avoid training 🙂↔️ In fact, in forward folds like pancake, learning how to find anterior pelvic tilt is often what unlocks depth and ease in the pose 🔓 When your pelvis stays stuck in a posterior tilt here, it literally becomes a barrier between you and your fold🥴 You run out of space before your body has actually reached its range But when you can find the ability to tilt the pelvis forward, you suddenly create space for your spine to lengthen and your hinge to deepen. This is why I’m such a big advocate for training range, not avoiding it :-) Try it in your own practice and notice: does your fold feel more spacious, more supported, more accessible? And if you missed Part 1 with the prep drills, comment “PREP” below and I’ll tag you in that post 🩵 And just a reminder: this isn’t a one-and-done shift it’s a skill that builds with repetition, awareness, and consistency 👁️ Props can absolutely help here too 🙌🏼 blocks under your knees and/or elevating your hips can all support you as you explore this range Follow for more yoga teacher guidance💚
Yoga alignment tips 101! ⭐️ As someone who definitely struggles with poses that demand hamstring flexibility, I’m here to show you how you can still achieve a pose correctly, without straining yourself and actually feel the real benefits! Episode 1: halfway lift or Ardha Uttanasana. This pose can be a tricky one, as with super mobile hamstrings, some people can have flat hands on the floor and still extend their back and open the chest, but for the vast majority of us this isn’t the case, and by trying to touch the floor and open at once, we put immense pressure on the spine and strain the neck. This super easy modification is the correct alignment & will gently elongate the spine and hamstrings! Let me know if you’re trying this one out in your next yoga class ! Namaste 🧘🏼♀️🧘🏼♀️

Can’t grab your foot in mermaid pose? You’re probably missing at least one of these two things 👇🏾 Most people go straight to stretching their quads and hip flexors, and yes, that matters. If your back leg is too tight to bend deeply enough, your foot simply won’t get close enough to grab. But here’s the one almost nobody talks about ⬇️ What muscle actually curls your heel to your butt? 🧐 Your hamstrings. And if you don’t have the active hamstring strength to get your heel there in the first place, it doesn’t matter how open your quads are. You’re not grabbing your foot. This is the difference between passive flexibility and active strength at end range, and it’s one of the most overlooked pieces of unlocking this pose. Want everything you need to unlock mermaid? 🧜🏻♀️ Comment “PREP” below and my little robot helper 🤖 will send you all the drills straight to you 💚 Follow me for weekly yoga posture deep dives that actually explains the why 🩵
If you feel Cobra pose in your lower back, this one is for you. A few small setup changes can make the pose feel much better. Save this for your next practice.
Today's Exercise Snack is a little bit of Yin. Melting Heart is a gentle backbend that opens the chest and stretches the spine and shoulders. Props are absolutely allowed. Find the variation that gives you a little bit of feedback, then settle in for 3–5 minutes. No forcing, no trying to win at Yin. 🎙️ Technical difficulties permitting. Because apparently pressing buttons is a specialist skill. 😂
This is one of the easiest ways to make your sequences feel more creative… A lot of the time, we move through vinyasa on autopilot… plank, chaturanga, upward dog, downward dog… without really questioning what those transitions are doing for the body or the peak we’re building toward 🧐 But when you start sequencing with intention, your transitions stop being filler and start becoming part of the preparation ✨ Another one of the biggest benefits of this shift is that it helps your students stay present in the practice 👁️ instead of just flowing through something they already know by memory. It keeps them engaged, curious, and actually feeling the sequence instead of checking out halfway through 🙂↕️ I love playing with creative ways to move around the mat instead of always defaulting to the same vinyasa pattern. With that being said… your girl does love a good classical vinyasa. There’s a reason it exists, and for a lot of people that flow just feels really good in the body 😋 But I also know for some students, chaturanga feels like a lot, and they would love a class where it’s not constantly repeated. On a side note, it can actually be a really fun challenge to design a full class without chaturanga at all 👀 try it and see how it changes your sequencing. And just to be clear, I’m not saying never use chaturanga 🙂↔️ I definitely still use the classical vinyasa & enjoy that transition… but it’s not my ✨only✨ transition. If you’re wanting to be more intentional & creative with your sequencing, start asking yourself this ⬇️ How can my transitions help me build toward the peak pose more specifically, instead of just moving me from shape to shape? Save this to play with more creative sequencing ideas, or try it in your next class and see how it shifts the energy💚
