Salon professionals, if you could change one thing about your business before the end of the year, what would it be?

More consistent clients? Better prices? Your own salon suite? Fewer days behind the chair? Or just getting more organized?

Salon professionals, it's Monday. What are we doing to make some money this week?

If your books are looking a little empty, here's where I'd start.

1. Check your schedule and post the appointments you actually have available this week. Include your services, location and booking link.
2. Reach out to 5 clients you haven't seen in a while. Sometimes a simple check-in is all it takes.
3. Look at what services are bringing in the most money. Are you promoting those services or just posting whatever pictures you have in your phone?

Don't sit around waiting for somebody to book. Give people a reason to come see you.

What are you doing to get more clients in your chair this week?

Having your own salon suite means making your own rules, but don't forget you're also the one who has to pay the rent.

One thing I've learned from doing hair is that everybody is not going to be your client, and that's okay. I've had clients come and go over the years. Some move, some want something different, and some just stop coming. You can't take every little thing personally. Keep doing good work, keep learning and take care of the people who continue to support you. And don't be afraid to make changes in your business when something isn't working. The way I did hair years ago isn't necessarily how I want to work today. I still love this industry, but I also want to enjoy my life outside of the salon. You can love doing hair and still want to do things differently.
