We’ve all heard it: “You’re fine, it’s just stress. Have you tried breathing?” It sounds harmless, but for someone with high-functioning anxiety, especially a “good girl” who’s spent years managing everyone else’s feelings, these words can feel invalidating. It’s not that you’re imagining it. Your body, mind, and nervous system are working overtime. Dismissing symptoms doesn’t just ignore the problem, it reinforces the belief that your experience isn’t real, that your feelings aren’t important, and that asking for help is somehow wrong. Over time, this can increase anxiety, shame, and self-doubt. Validating someone’s experience doesn’t require a “fix.” Sometimes the most powerful thing a clinician (or anyone) can do is listen, acknowledge, and guide them toward understanding and support. Your feelings are real. Your nervous system matters. And taking them seriously is the first step toward real relief. 🫶🏻 💚 LIKE, SHARE and SAVE if this spoke to you. 💚 Follow @heal.with.irene for daily high-functioning anxiety support for the woman with 'good girl' Trauma.

The AMTA LA Convention in New Orleans provided an excellent opportunity to enhance my practice with new techniques and assessment skills while networking with esteemed colleagues. This year's event, hosted by James Waslaski, focused on Quick Manual Therapy Techniques for Musculoskeletal Pain Relief. It was a privilege to learn from such a knowledgeable educator.

If I’ve ever had the pleasure of working on you, you’ve seen it in my studio. For me, it’s a reminder that ALL are welcomed at my table. 🫶🏼 Be well! 🙏🏻
