No. Your career paused. It didn’t end—and there is nothing to be embarrassed about.
If it has been 2–8 years since you actively practiced, Connecticut lists either the licensing examination or a 135-hour refresher curriculum for eligible applicants. The JCRS 135-hour course is online and self-paced, with no salon visit required.
If it has been more than 8 years since you actively practiced, Connecticut requires a 245-hour refresher plus the state licensing examination. The JCRS 245-hour refresher is online, and hands-on training at our school is optional.

More than 8 years away? Message us about the online 245-hour program, the required state licensing exam, and optional hands-on training.
Connecticut DPH makes the final determination for every reinstatement application. Completing a refresher course does not automatically reinstate a license.
