Heart N' Soul Aromas
✨Natural, handcrafted aromatic products for daily self care- crafted for mind, body and soul. By Certified Aromatherapist Nikki VanZandt.
I am a certified aromatherapist with over 10 years experience. My journey with essential oils has helped me mentally and physically. I originally looked to the use of essential oils to help with anxiety. As I continued on my journey I became fascinated how the chemistry of plants contain different properties to help in a variety of ways. I wanted and needed to learn more so I studied with Aromatic Studies and am certified in the Aroma 101 Foundations, Aroma 201: Advanced Aromatherapy and Organic Body Care Products courses. I am also a member of NAHA- National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy whose mission is to advance the knowledge of the medicinal use of aromatic plants and essential oils to its fullest extent and to support aromatherapy as a truly holistic professional art and science. The more I worked with essential oils, the more I learned how synthetic fragrances are harmful to the respiratory system and have no therapeutic value what so ever. This is where I really dove in. I began to make my own cleaning supplies for home with essential oils and natural ingredients. I looked at my soap, shower gel, candles and stopped using commercially produced items. I learned how to make soap and candles and skin care products. Here I am with Heart n Soul Aromas where I really put my heart and soul into everything I create. My vision is to create with the seasons and to focus on soaps, candles and essentials with pure essential oils and natural ingredients that are good for your body and your home. Thank you for visiting my shop. I hope you enjoy these products as much as I enjoy creating them. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. Aromatically Yours,
Nikki

A little recap of the AIA Conference 🌿
Surrounded by so much beauty and peace, I found myself enjoying the trails and the wisdom of the trees. I experienced a group-led forest bathing (Shinrin-yoku) for the first time and came away with a deeper connection to the trees and the natural world. That was an unexpected and beautiful surprise for me.
I loved all of the lectures and workshops. There is always so much to learn, and I’m still digesting everything I took in. I came home inspired, with so many new ideas—and, of course, so many books to read!
But perhaps one of the greatest highlights of the conference was the people and connections made along the way.
A new friendship came out of this trip, and we ventured off the property together to a nearby trail for a beautiful hike on a beautiful day. Thank you for that amazing time! 💚
And then there was meeting Salvatore Battaglia in person. This was truly amazing for me. Sal has been teaching and contributing to the field of aromatherapy for decades, and his work has influenced so many.
But what struck me most was how kind and humble he was. What a light in the world. I am beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to meet him.
All in all, what an experience. I came home with new knowledge, new inspiration, new friendships, a stack of books—and essential oils—and a heart full of gratitude. 🌿✨

Hello, October. 🍂
Here’s where you can find me this month.
Come by. Breathe it in. Take a moment to explore.
Find the aroma that draws you in. The one that makes your shoulders soften, your breath slow, and something inside you says, yes, this is what I needed.
Aromatherapy is a gentle companion in a busy world- a small moment to pause, reconnect, and breathe.

I’d love to see you there. 💜
Be still and breathe. 🤍
Remember to take time during your day to simply be and breathe. It’s good for you on so many levels.
I know…you don’t have the time, right? But truly, taking a pause throughout your day—even just to take 5 long, slow, deep breaths in and out—can help you pause, refocus, and reconnect with yourself. A few quiet moments to tune out the noise and find a little peace within.
As an aromatherapist, I love incorporating essential oils into simple breathing and mindfulness practices. Scent can be such a beautiful way to create a sense of ritual around these moments and remind us to slow down and be present.
Lately, I’ve been reaching for my Aroma To Go Pearl of Wisdom blend. There’s something about this particular aroma that feels especially fitting when I’m craving a little quiet and reflection.
You don’t need a lot of time. Start with five slow, intentional breaths and see what you notice.
Let’s start the week breathing. 🤍
This space I am in is beautiful. Awe-inducing beauty and peace.
The trees—
They shade us.
They create sound as the air rustles through their leaves.
They provide homes for animals and food for critters.
They give us a place to sit against, to find contact and connection. Grounding.
It’s easy to feel this sense of wonder and awe while immersed in it.
For me, the challenge is: How do I bring this feeling home with me? How do I create a space of wonderment and awe in my everyday life?
I have an idea.
The words aroma garden keep popping into my head.
Because yes, we need to find beauty in the everyday—but I also think we have to take the time and care to intentionally create spaces that feel sacred to us.
And that is my homework when I arrive home.
A place to slow down.
A place to be present.
A place where I can hear my own thoughts.
And yes, such a place can be created in a tiny backyard or on a patio.
It doesn’t have to be grand. It just has to invite us to pause.
How are you connecting to the awe of what is around you?
Hello from North Carolina! 🌿
It was a long, rainy solo journey from Maryland this morning, but I made it safe and sound.
I’m in the beautiful area of Hendersonville, and there is something so magical about this place. ✨ I’m here to attend an aromatherapy conference, and I’m so excited!
Of course, I made it all the way here before realizing I forgot my laptop, Kindle, and phone charger. 😂 So apparently I’ll be embracing a little more unplugged time than planned!
I’ll share more of this beautiful scenery as my time here goes on. 💚

🍂 A Season of Shifting 🍂
Today is the last official day of summer.
Tomorrow, at 8:05 PM EDT, we arrive at the Autumn Equinox—a moment of transition, when the balance of light and dark begins to shift and nature starts its beautiful movement inward.
And if we pause long enough to notice, we may find that something is shifting within us, too.
What is coming to completion?
What are you ready to release?
What are you choosing to carry with you into the next season?
I’ve been reflecting on how nature reminds us that change doesn’t have to be rushed. The trees don’t cling to every leaf. They let go when the time is right.
There is wisdom in that. 🍂
Lately, I’ve been reaching for my Pearl of Wisdom Aroma to Go, a blend of Black Spruce, Orange, and Jasmine essential oils. It has become a comforting aromatic companion as I move through this season of transition.
Perhaps this is a beautiful time to find an aroma, ritual, or blend that supports you—something that invites you to pause, breathe, reflect, and be present with where you are.
✨ A little autumn reflection:
What has come to completion in your life?
What are you leaving behind?
And what wisdom are you bringing with you into the season ahead?
And speaking of new beginnings… 🌱
