350+ strands. 24 inches. A FULL ponytail. And not a single extension attachment in sight. 👀🌈

Yes, you read that right. THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY+ individual keratin fusion extensions, and every single one is discreetly hidden. THAT is the magic of a customized Great Lengths Hair Extensions installation. ✨

I headed down to Miami to glam up one of my favorite humans, Jillian Haring, for a photoshoot with ZANC, and I think we can all agree that Jill understood the assignment. 💅🏼

We all know how much I love Jillian. She’s such a vibe, and I’m lucky enough to call her both a client and a friend. 🤍

For her hair, we used:
🩶 Natural gray / salt & pepper
🤍 Platinum silver
🌈 A custom rainbow blend
🪶 A whole lot of hidden feathers, because of COURSE she has feathers.

All 24 inches of Great Lengths Hair Extensions keratin fusion goodness because jillian deserves top shelf.

I got to create a few different styles throughout the shoot to complement her outfits and each scene, including a ponytail that shows just how discreet even 350+ extensions can be when they’re strategically placed.

And can we talk about these photos?! 📸 ZANC was incredible to work with, and she captured Jill’s personality so beautifully.

The goal isn’t just to give someone more hair. It’s to give them the freedom to wear it however they want without worrying about their extensions showing.

350+ strands. Endless styling possibilities. Zero visible bonds. 😮‍💨

Would you ever guess she’s wearing THAT many extensions?

Could we have used more than 75 strands? Yes.
Would her hair look fuller with more? Absolutely.
So why didn’t we? 👀

Because the goal wasn’t to put as much hair on her head as possible.

It was to give her enough hair to make a difference without repeating an experience that made her afraid to wear extensions.

She came to me after trying micro-beaded/I-tip extensions. She wore them for less than a week before taking them out because she was uncomfortable and in pain.

She also occasionally experiences psoriasis, so after that experience, she was understandably nervous about how her scalp would react to another set of extensions.

So we didn’t go all in.

We did a trial run.

I used just 75 Great Lengths USA strands, customized by cutting the bonds into thirds and strategically spacing them throughout her hair. Great Lengths Hair Extensions t

And look at what only 75 strands did to that perimeter. 🤌

Is it completely opaque? No.
Could I add more density? 100%.

But that wasn’t the assignment.

The assignment was soft. Lightweight. Natural. Comfortable. Customized.

Her natural hair also has body and wave, so choosing extension hair that didn’t feel too silky, flat or foreign against her own texture was important. You can see where she has breakage through those last few inches, while the density closer to her scalp is growing in beautifully.

That gave us a really good foundation to work with—we just needed to fill in what was missing.

If she wears this set comfortably with no scalp concerns, next time?

We double down. 🎰

Sometimes being a good extension artist means knowing when your client needs more hair.

And sometimes it means knowing when less is the smarter choice.

This is why I love customizable extension work. It’s never just “How many strands can we fit?”

It’s how much hair is appropriate for this person, on this head, right now?

ABSOLUTELY.

But more hair wasn’t the goal…
at least not yet. 👀

She had already tried extensions…

Extensions have a reputation for damaging your hair… but can we talk about the things we do to our natural hair every day without thinking twice? 😂

Bleach + heat 🔥
A flat iron cranked up to 450°
High, tight buns on repeat
Skipping haircuts because we’re “trying to grow it”
Mystery hair products from Amazon/TJ Maxx because the price was right 👀
Your toxic ex… obviously
And walking into the salon with an XXL Diet Coke or energy drink and bringing NOTHING for your stylist. Honestly, the most damaging one on this list. 😂

Here’s the thing: extensions absolutely CAN cause damage. The wrong method, too much weight, poor application, bad maintenance or wearing them longer than recommended can wreck your natural hair.

But extensions that are customized to YOUR hair density, texture and lifestyle are a completely different story.

Sometimes we actually use extensions to help us reach a hair goal while doing less to the natural hair underneath—less bleaching, less heat styling, less tension and less obsessing over every little piece that needs to grow.

Extensions aren’t automatically damaging.
Bad extension work is damaging.

yes, I will continue accepting Aroma Joe’s Florida as payment for this educational information. 😂🩵

Which one are you guilty of? 👀 what did I miss adding to the list?

13+ years with Great Lengths and they continue to set the bar. 🤌🏼✨

I’ve been working with Great Lengths fusion and tape extensions since 2013, so I’ve experienced firsthand how much education goes into this brand.

Great Lengths has always set the bar for extension education, and their weft class was no different.

Even after all these years behind the chair, I still believe there is ALWAYS more to learn. New methods, new techniques, different ways of approaching placement and customization — continuing your education is what keeps you growing as an artist.

Because great extension work isn’t just about adding hair. It’s understanding the WHY behind what you’re doing so you can customize every application for the person sitting in your chair while protecting the integrity of their natural hair.

Getting to add another Great Lengths method to my toolbox while learning from a brand I’ve trusted since 2013? Easy yes. 🫶🏼 plus Noah Barnes | Extensions & Cut Dallas & Andrea Rose| South Florida Extensions Specialist were both incredible instructors!

And if Great Lengths education has been on your list, there are more opportunities to get in the classroom this year:

Which city are you headed to? 👀

POV: you were already a baddie… you just needed the hair to match. 💅🏼

Keary said give me LENGTH, but make it look like it grew directly out of my head — so that’s exactly what we did.

We used Great Lengths Hair Extensions shades 99, 123 + 01 to create a completely customized salt + pepper blend, keeping all of that natural dimension while adding some extra brightness around his face. 🤌🏼

Because extensions aren’t “women’s hair.”
They’re not just for blondes.
They’re not just for adding a ton of volume.

Hair extensions are for anyone who wants more options with their hair. 🩵

More length. More fullness. More dimension. More confidence. More you.

And Keary has been a baddie from the start… now he just has the hair to match. 😂🔥

And just like that… the petition WORKED. 😂🩵

A couple weeks ago I jokingly started a petition to get Vanessa to come work with us again after 15ish years… and apparently you guys were very convincing because IT’S OFFICIAL: VANESSA IS JOINING HBD&co. 🥹✨

This one feels extra full circle for me. Vanessa and I worked together at my dad’s salon forever ago, and she was actually the person who pushed me to get certified in cold fusion extensions in the first place. Now all these years later, we get to work side by side again — except this time at the salon I built. 😭🩵

And when I tell you she is TALENTEDDDD.

Vanessa is bringing so much to our little HBD family — Great Lengths thermal + cold fusion extensions, GL wefts, gorgeous blondes + dimensional/natural color, cuts, some seriously good blowouts AND Japanese Thermal Reconditioning for anyone ready to break up with their flat iron. 👀

Her online booking is officially LIVE! 🚨

Starting in November, you can book with Vanessa online on Mondays + Fridays.
Want to see her sooner? She has limited October availability by request, and additional days may also be available by request. ✨

So to everyone who signed my petition… thank you for your service. 😂 Mission accomplished.

Welcome (back) to the family, Vanessa. 🥹🩵

Who’s going to be the first one in her chair?! 👇🏼

you never stop being a student… even when you become the educator. 🥹

Bond Boot Camp was one of those weekends that reminded me exactly why I fell in love with hair extensions in the first place.

I’ve been doing strand-by-strand extensions for 16 years, and somehow I STILL walk away from education feeling inspired, challenged and excited to do things differently.

This time I got to experience it from the other side of the room…helping coach a group of stylists through the tiny details that can completely change their extension work.

The placement. The sectioning. The angles. The consultation. The blending. The why behind what we’re doing instead of just memorizing the steps.

Watching that moment when something finally clicks for another stylist?! 💡 That might be my new favorite thing.

Getting to teach alongside people I respect, learn from them at the same time, laugh entirely too much, make new stylist friends and watch everyone leave more confident than they walked in… THAT is what education should feel like. Ashley Diana Alex King thank you for letting me invite myself and whip everyone into shape. 🫡

I came home exhausted, inspired, and already ready to do it again. 😂🩵

Swipe for a little BTS of Bond Boot Camp ➡️

A room full of stylists who voluntarily spent their weekend talking about tiny pieces of hair. My people. 😂

The goal isn’t just to show someone how I do it. It’s helping them understand why.

Proof that learning does not have to feel like sitting through school. 🥂

Watch. Ask questions. Get your hands in there. Repeat. 👏

There is NOTHING like getting to see someone else’s technique up close.

THIS ONE. 😭🩵
Getting to watch Nef grow from my assistant into a certified extension stylist while I was helping educate this class was a full-circle moment.

One of my favorite photos from the entire weekend. 🥹

Very proud salon-mom energy happening here. 🩵

Apparently I have a LOT to say about sectioning & bond placement. Who could have predicted this? 😂

Tiny adjustments = completely different results. This is where the magic happens.

Watching my assistant put everything he’s learned into practice while I’m helping teach

POV: your bo***ir photographer spends her days making YOU feel hot… so you finally get to return the favor. 🥹🩵

Jamee has photographed me more times than I can count, and I swear I leave every shoot with her feeling a little more confident, a little more powerful, and a lot more obsessed with myself 😂

Today she sat in my chair for her very first set of hair extensions, and getting to give her a little bit of the feeling she’s given me over the years was such a full-circle gratitude moment.

We spent the day bringing her hair goals to life with four different Great Lengths USA shades, completely customized to blend with the dimension already in her natural hair.

The goal wasn’t just “longer hair.” We wanted FULL hair — density through those ends, beautiful movement, seamless color and something that still felt completely like her.

And THAT BEFORE + AFTER?! 😭👏🏼

Of course, she couldn’t leave without the full HBD&co experience either. She went home with a swag bag full of goodies and everything she needs to properly care for her new hair at home.

Now I need to know…

Are you team STRAIGHT or team CURLED?! 👇🏼

And if you’ve been staring at extension transformations wondering what they could do for your hair, this is your sign. DM me “HAIR GOALS” and we’ll talk about what method would work best for you. 🩵

Okay but can we talk about the DENSITY?! 😭 From see-through ends to FULL.

The part you’re not supposed to notice 👀 Seamless, customized + hidden.

Because obviously we had to curl her before she left 😍 The dimension from those 4 custom shades thoughhhh.
