So basically, diameter controls the curl/wave pattern, and barrel length controls how much hair you can grab and how fast you can move through a head.

Define Brush — wider spacing between the edges = bigger, defined clumps + more shine. Great if your curls need help holding their shape.
Volume Brush — narrower spacing = smaller clumps, more root lift + separation. Great for flat roots or fine hair that needs more bounce.
