The reality is, I do say these to people because I’m not afraid of hurting your feelings… ’m more worried about making sure you know the truth.
One of the biggest reasons, I don’t enjoy doing heavy bonding, it’s because of the at home care that is, in my opinion, required.
I could’ve done a lightening service with all the bonding and reparative treatments possible, but if you are not taking care of it when I’m not with you, unfortunately, your hair will start showing the damage; because now we understand that when I put bleach and developer onto the hair strand, it opens up the cuticle immediately causing damage, no matter what.
And when we talk about damage, I don’t just mean chemical damage. If we are seeing split ends, they must be cut off to have healthy hair. If you don’t cut them off sooner than later, they will continue to split up the hair shaft and eventually break off on their own. There may be a few bandaids out there but the only thing to truly “mend” split ends is to get rid of them.
That doesn’t mean that the only way to have healthy hair is to get regular haircuts though. Trust me, I would know. I have a client who is in her early 20s and has NEVER cut her hair, and in my professional opinion, she doesn’t need a haircut. How is that possible? Well, she comes in every 6-8 weeks for a moisture and scalp treatment. Not only do we have to have proper maintenance on the hair strand can physically see, but we also need to take care of our scalp.
In case you didn’t know, the hair that has already grown is also already dead. If we’re not taking care of our bodies we will start to see more and more damage.
Typically, why with aging and whenever a medical concern comes up, you will see hair loss and shedding. Our bodies know that hair is not a necessity to life, so when something is going on internally, our body’s first response is to stop nurturing our hair and use more energy to heal our bodies.
Especially in Colorado, you need to make sure you’re not only eating more healthy, but also drinking enough water. Outside of taking care of our bodies internally, one of the best things you can do to help grow your hair is regular scalp massages.
And i

B A R B E R
(n.)
Part artist, part craftsman, part confidence dealer. Someone who turns clippers, shears, and a steady hand into a feeling you carry long after you leave the chair.
Barbering is the most recent license I got, and for me, has been the one that had the largest impact. In the state of Colorado, we have one tool that separates us from a hairstylist - the straight razor; a tool that shouldn’t define us, but allows us something more to gain the skill of. A tool that, especially in America, is slowly disappearing and if it is still being used, it’s no longer an experience.
Barbering helped shape me into the woman I am today. The one who accepts every part of myself, it taught me to say no confidently, it had me meet people and let go of people, it came with sorrow and joy, but more importantly it came with growth.
To be a lady barber, showed me a matter of sexism I never felt before. It was always “they come to you because you’re female, because you’re pretty, you guys don’t have to be as good cuz you have boobs…” and no one until I worked at Setting Trnds and met Jason Hasberry and Tony Davis cared to see my skill improve.
I would attend barber expos and look for role models but they accepted that’s what lady barbers did and were flaunting their bodies too; I came to hate the industry for putting a women’s body as the leading role for the male dominated industry - I mean we see it all over 🏈
With time, us ladies are starting to take over the barber industry! And the best barbers are the ones willing to put in the work to create an experience. We’re in a service industry, and it is our job to serve the people who choose sit in our chair. The best barbers, in my opinion, are the ones willing to pick up the shears, the ones willing to color some hair, the ones not letting the razor define them, but using it as a tool it’s better themselves instead. The best barbers are the ones with an open mind willing to learn more, to help others grow and care about serving their community.
Rest in peace Jason Hasberry I think of you every time I pick up that razor 🖤
Welcome to the side of the hair industry where we don’t trash talk other stylists, we love and pray for our clients, and we value the connection more than the compensation.
For the longest time in my career, I thought every stylist was the same - loved gossip, speak negativity, or are all about the money. As I moved into being my own boss and building my own connections instead of trying to force one with my coworkers, I realized there’s more to this industry than I thought.
Fast forward five years and I’m back in a salon. I was nervous I’d fall back into the world I knew before self-employment. I’m still learning my environment, but one thing I know for sure is having a team, people to ask questions to or get advice from, can be better than doing things alone. (And that’s for your personal life too 😉)

🪄 Ktip hair extensions, Tape-in hair extensions, Topper hair extensions, Sew-in hair extensions (WBR | IBE | Luna Method | NoShowRows)
Just one row of extensions can add plenty of volume to your natural hair. With extensions, you’ll also see curls lasting, fewer wash days, and lower maintenance in the mornings. Whether it be a weft or ktips, just one row might be all you need!
But if you’re wanting more length, that’s a different story. From multiple rows of sew-ins to a full head of ktips, it is possible to bring you from short to longer. Patience is key during transformations like this.
Sometimes, we start experiencing hair loss and thinning in places typical extensions can’t reach, like the top of the head. That’s where a closure comes to play! Whether you want bangs or not, this is the perfect option for you if you don’t like being able to see your scalp.
But my favorite thing about extensions is being able to add color without the chemicals! From pops of vivids to a beautiful balayage, if you EVER see me with color trust me, it’s hair extensions!

Because what you do for work shouldn’t define all of who you are. What are some of your favorite things or hobbies? Anything the same??
