A happy anniversary, again, to my 30th birthday 🥂

There was a stretch of my life, and like, a LONG stretch, that I demanded to be marked by strength. Grit. A bottomless well of stamina.

It was all things: endurance racing, opening businesses, teaching fitness classes, cofounding + co-operating a nonprofit, getting published for my work in hairdressing- any real life dopamine hits that fell under the category of hard earned accomplishment: my answer was yes. It was slashing anything that didn’t contribute; tighten up, efficiency first, grind, see the goal and chomp at it until it was complete. And let me be frank: I loved that stretch of living. It was so fun to pretend I was more machine than I was human 😜

The season that came after that came hard, fast, and without warning. It took my handmade tough shell, and shattered it.

This most recent chapter has been a unique combination of all of the above and more. The foundational pieces of me valuing gritty stamina and unmatched work ethic will always remain. It is as much me as my fingerprint, my blood type. The lessons learned of having my heart cracked wide open, and broken into a million little pieces- those don’t leave you. But then there is this next, that depending on the day can be all hope, all anticipation, or all intimidating mystery.

The next, this new chapter I’ve found myself wading the waters of, is a mid thirties baptism of sorts. It’s a new build home after being squeezed dry from the lemon-like qualities of historic home ownership. It’s an obsession with the boy baby that came to us naturally, and a deep well of gratitude for the baby in my belly that took every ounce of science, time, driving, money, and effort, to exist. It’s a marriage that has lost track of the score, and is deeply rooted in love, immeasurable confidence in one another, partnership to build the world we believe in. It’s a celebration of a body doing exactly what I have begged it to do. A fitness regimen that looks nothing like Ironman prep, but everything like intentional nourishment. It is believing that rest counts. That each moment of the day doesn’t need to be scheduled, or monetized, or productive. It’s the sweetn
