Inside a Formula 1 race weekend, performance is powered by far more than what happens on the track.

This is the focus of the Human Engine Research Initiative, a UChicago Medicine physician-led study with the TGR Haas F1 Team to better understand sleep, fatigue, recovery, performance and well-being across a demanding race season.

Earlier this month at the Miami Grand Prix, our researchers shadowed mechanics, engineers and support staff across a full race weekend, helping advance the next phase of the work.

As the team races in Montréal this weekend, we are cheering them on and proud to continue learning from their performance across the season.
