Keeping your home clean the right way!

09/29/2026

🌱 Okay, THIS is why I keep saying there is so much more to an edible landscape than just planting edible plants.

We were helping a homeowner clean up an existing food forest today, and I found this around one of their beautyberry bushes.

This poor thing has struggled for YEARS.

As I started clearing things back, I found this green plastic mesh tangled up in the root zone. 😳

I don’t know exactly why it was used or how it was installed, and I don’t want to make assumptions about the original installation. But seeing this definitely got my attention.

Because this is the part of landscaping that you don’t see.

The roots.

Roots need room to grow. Soil needs to breathe. Water needs to move. And everything we put into the soil can potentially affect what happens underneath the surface for years.

This particular food forest was originally installed by a legitimate edible landscape company, which honestly makes finding this even more interesting.

I’m not sure yet if this beautyberry can be saved, but I’m going to carefully work around it and see what we can do. ❤️🌿

And THIS is exactly why I’m so passionate about what we’re building.

I don’t want to just plant things that look good when we’re finished.

I want to understand the land, understand the plants, and think about what that landscape is going to look like 5, 10, 20 years from now.

Because a food forest should become more established, more productive, and more alive with time.

Not just look good on installation day. 🌱

Still a great one!

You know what’s probably in your gutters right now?

Leaves.

Pine needles.

Dirt.

Seeds.

Little sticks.

Dead bugs.

Moss.

And probably a whole bunch of other stuff you don’t really want to think about. 😂

All of that sits there, gets wet, breaks down, and eventually turns into this nasty layer of organic material sitting around on your roofline.

And then your gutters can’t actually do what they’re supposed to do.

So here’s your reminder:

Go look.

Seriously. Walk outside and look up.

If you see a bunch of crap sitting in your gutters, they’re probably overdue.

And if you don’t feel like climbing a ladder and dealing with it yourself, call us.

We’ll be happy to get them cleaned out.

Another little lakefront cleanup 👀

This walkway had a LOT of buildup on it.

And because it runs right along the lake, we had to approach this one a little differently. We weren’t about to use chemicals or soft wash anything and risk runoff going straight into the water.

So we cleaned it using a method that was safe for the area and still got all that buildup off the concrete.

This is one of those jobs where the difference is pretty dang obvious. 😂

If you’ve got concrete around your house that’s looking like this, send us a message. We can take a look and figure out the best way to clean it.

Your gutters don’t have to be falling off your house for there to be a problem.

Sometimes they’re just full.

Sometimes they’re holding water.

Sometimes they’re overflowing in one spot every time it rains.

Sometimes you don’t even realize there’s an issue because you aren’t standing outside watching your gutters during a storm.

That’s why cleaning them regularly is just part of taking care of your house.

It’s definitely not the most exciting thing on the homeowner to-do list. 😂

But neither is repairing water damage.

If you have no idea when yours were last cleaned, I’d probably put that one on the list.

And if you’d rather not deal with it yourself, that’s what we’re here for.

Fall is coming, y’all. 🍂

And if you’ve got a lot of trees around your house, your gutters are about to get REALLY busy.

This is actually a good time to get them cleaned out before all the leaves start falling.

Because if they’re already half full now, imagine what they’re going to look like after a few weeks of this:

🍂🍂🍂🍂🍂

We’ve also started offering scheduled gutter cleanouts, so you don’t have to remember to call us every time.

Quarterly, every other month, or monthly depending on your property.

We’re going to start putting those customers on a regular route, so if you’d rather just have somebody take care of it for you, send us a message.

Otherwise, at least go look at your gutters before fall gets here. 😂

Go outside and look at your gutters. Seriously. 😂

The next time it rains, even better.

Look for water pouring over the sides.

Look for one spot that’s constantly dripping.

Look for gutters that are sagging.

Look underneath them and see if water is running down the side of your house.

Look at your flower beds. Are they getting washed out underneath the gutters?

Your gutters are supposed to catch the water coming off your roof and move it away from your house.

If they’re not doing that, you’ve got a problem somewhere.

And sometimes you don’t realize there’s a problem until you’ve already got water damage.

So go look.

It takes about 30 seconds.

And if yours look like they haven’t been cleaned since 1997… give us a call. 😂

We did this walkway right along the lake, and this one definitely took a little more care than a normal concrete cleaning job.

We couldn’t use our normal soft wash process because we didn’t want anything getting into the water. So we had to be really careful about what we used and how we cleaned it.

It was pretty nasty before, though. 😂

And it cleaned up really well.

This is one of those jobs where you have to look at the whole property and what’s around it, not just the thing you’re cleaning. Every job is a little different, and sometimes you have to change how you do things to make sure you’re taking care of the property AND what’s around it.

I love how this one turned out. 👀

If you can see plants growing out of your gutters, I’m gonna go ahead and say they’re probably overdue for a cleaning. 😂

I’ve seen some pretty impressive things growing in gutters.

Leaves and dirt sit in there, they get wet, seeds find their way in, and before you know it you’ve basically got a little garden growing on your roofline.

And besides looking terrible, all that stuff holds moisture and adds weight to your gutters.

If you look up and see green stuff growing out of them…

yeah. I’d probably get those cleaned.

😂

Call or text 423-888-2203 and we’ll get them taken care of.

This deck was definitely overdue for some attention. 😂

A good cleaning can make a HUGE difference, especially when you’ve got dirt, algae, leaves, and all the other stuff that builds up outside.

And once it’s clean, it’s a lot easier to see what it actually needs — whether that’s a good sealing, staining, or maybe a few repairs.

If your deck has been sitting on your “I really need to do something with that” list… we get it. 😂

That’s something we can help with.
