Upon your first meeting, you will immediately be embraced with her passion for life and zest for style. Ayana also expressed her interest in styling hair.
She is observant; she has an incredible since of humor; she is creative. She starting sewing at the age of 3 using scraps of material left from her mother’s projects. Ayana began to make clothes for all the dolls of the house and often used her sisters as live models. All the household dolls had stylish cuts and weaves made of sewing thread!!! Her fascination with hair and fashion progressed. She
started wearing her original fashions to school, and later became the high school hair stylist to many friends and the dorm room stylist to many on her college campus. She spent countless hours creating the perfect over all look. Ayana’s loving family supported her on her mission to showcase her talents. Milestones along Ayana’s fashion journey include:
· Attending Oakland Technical Center her senior year of high school and obtaining a Certificate of Completion In Pattern Design and Pattern Drafting (Member of National Vocational Honors Society)
· Intern to the Fashion Director of the Atlanta Apparel Mart.
· Bachelor of Applied Arts from Central Michigan University
· Major: Apparel Design and Merchandising. Minor: Marketing.
· Certificate of Completion Paris Fashion Institute in Paris France.
· Aveda Institute Licensed Cosmetologist
· A professional career in NYC including the following positions: Design Assistant, Trim Coordinator, Production Coordinator and Product Manager at leading fashion companies including TSE, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein Jeans, Saks Fifth Ave, and Jones Apparel Group.
· A professional career in styling hair and make up application at various salons. Ayana’s Designs have been available at retail stores in Michigan, North Carolina, and through her Internet sales. Her Greek apparel has been sold at HBCU Homecoming events. A highlight for Ayana is the wedding dress she made for her sister, which appears in a photograph in the May/June 2005 issue of Carolina Bride magazine. Ayana’s hair styles have been photographed made countless memories for senior pictures, homecomings, proms, weddings and everyday life. Ayana has a passion for happiness. Sketching something on paper, and producing and actual garment, or altering the appearance to enhance ones features gives her and exhilarating feeling. “Simply wonderful” are the only words she can use to describe the feeling she gets when seeing someone look beautiful in garment she made or a hairstyle that she had hand in tailoring.
