It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the closure of Bee Green Apothecary until further notice. This business has brought me so much joy. Connecting with others over sustainability, natural approaches to health and healing, and sharing a common love for our planet and the creatures that inhabit it has been a priceless, powerful experience. I have been proud to supply sustainable solutions to so many. However, I must reorganize my time and energy to focus on continuing my education to support career growth, and hopefully find time to explore other hobbies that I have not had the capacity for since beginning this business. If you know me personally and want any products in the future, I am happy to discuss these case by case. Until further notice, I will still be selling limited items in local CLT outlets. I will be keeping all of my social media active for communication purposes and due to the likelihood of potential flash sales in the future. Spring 2021 has been SO kind to us here in the Carolinas! The weather has been so mild this year, giving early spring plants plenty of time to bloom comfortably without stress from intense heat, and in turn, giving local pollinators time and options for foraging! Not pictured are a couple of raised beds that will be full of more veggies and herbs soon, and some ground cover plants on their way. 😸 What are you growing this year? 🌱☀️🌿🐝

Did you know that this "w**d" is actually an edible, medicinal plant? (And honeybees love it too!) Laminum Purpureum, or Purple Dead Nettle (also called Red Dead nettle) is a member of the mint family although it does not taste minty. It's highly nutritious. It’s abundant in vitamins, particularly vitamin C, along with iron and fiber, while the oil in its seeds is packed with powerful antioxidants. It's considered to be an  anti-inflammatory,antibacterial and antifungal. It’s also a diuretic, an astringent and diaphoretic. It's known for reducing allergy symptoms. The leaves of the purple dead-nettle plant can be placed on wounds or cuts to stop bleeding (when used as a poultice) and its vitamin C and flavonoids work together to help boost the immune system and fight infection. You can toss some in a smoothie or salad, make tea with fresh or dried leaves, or even make an herbal tincture to help with allergies! (We have tried all of the above!) Always do research and verify the plant species when wild foraging. Never forage in areas where pets defecate, or where chemicals are used for lawn maintenance. And of course, leave some for the honeybees! 🧡💚🐝🌿💚🧡

P.S. The Queen honeybee can sting more than once, but you are much more likely to come in contact with her foragers (who can only sting once) as they are the bees gathering pollen and nectar! And drones (the male bees) do not sting at all! 🐝🌻🌺
