Soooo, things don’t always work the way we plan! Though recipe #2 won the vote for the best, I was still underwhelmed with its flavor. I decided that since my plain loaves are awesome, let’s go with making some pumpkin apple butter to top it instead!! INTRODUCING- Pumpkin Apple Butter in half pint jars for $7.50 ea. It can be kept in the fridge for 2-4 weeks or can be frozen for up to 6 mos. This batch was made Sunday, September 20th- get yours now, this will only be available through Thanksgiving.

Remember- when you go to the store, things may not always be as they seem! I was at the deli and saw this sourdough bread. Looks good, even has the non GMO stamp on the package. At first glance, you may think this is a good choice, until…you turn it over and read the ingredients. This bread is no better than ones with a plain label and is cheaper! Why? First ingredient, enriched flour!!! UGH! This means it has been stripped of all of its nutritional value, even bleached with chlorine, and then added back in. Preservatives to keep it fresh on the shelf. Hello processed crap with a non GMO fancy label to fool the consumer. Guess what my sourdough has in it? Flour, water, active sourdough starter and salt. THAT’S IT. You will NEVER find that in a store! Mine is best eaten within 3 days or freeze it. No processed or preservative garbage here!!

My favorite time of year is almost here! Sweatshirt weather, pumpkin patches, warm cinnamon smells and beautifully colored leaves lit up by the Autumn sun!! Of course I have to have some fun things to offer! This week I’m taste testing 2 different sourdough loaf recipes, and clients—-you get to help vote when you get a taste when you come for a session😋
