I honestly don’t even know where to begin except to say THANK YOU.

My birthday was absolutely amazing, and I went to bed thinking about just how incredibly lucky I am to have the people I have in my life.

Thank you to everyone who called me, texted me, messaged me, posted on my wall, brought me gifts, flowers, balloons, cake, decorations, made things for me, stopped by, hugged me, made me laugh, and took time out of your day just to make sure I knew you were thinking about me. 🖤

I read your messages.

I saw your posts.

I noticed every little thing.

And every single one of you made me feel loved.

But my gratitude goes so much deeper than just my birthday.

Thank you for everything you do for me and everything you continue to do for me.

Thank you to the people who check on me.

The ones who show up.

The ones who listen when I need to talk.

The ones who celebrate the good s**t with me and stand beside me through the hard s**t.

The ones who make me laugh until my stomach hurts.

The ones who accept my weirdness, my loud mouth, my dark humor, my big feelings and every other ridiculous piece of who I am. 😂🖤

Thank you for loving me exactly as I am.

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that the greatest gifts in life aren’t things.

They’re people.

They’re the ones who remember you.

The ones who make an effort.

The ones who make you feel seen.

The ones who choose to be part of your life—not just on your birthday, but on all the ordinary days in between.

And I have some really fu***ng beautiful people in mine. 🖤

This birthday wasn’t amazing because of what I received.

It was amazing because of how loved I felt.

And that is something I will never take for granted.

I started doing hair in 1993.

No Instagram.
No TikTok.
No Pinterest boards.
No filters.
No hashtags telling us what was cool.

Just a punk-ass girl with a cosmetology license, a love for weird hair, loud music, black clothes, and absolutely ZERO desire to look like everybody else. 😂🖤

I WAS HERE.

And 33 years later?

I’M STILL FU***NG HERE.

Alternative isn’t something I discovered.

It isn’t an aesthetic I adopted.

It isn’t a trend I decided to follow.

THIS HAS ALWAYS BEEN WHO I AM.

I’m fu***ng OG.

And when you’ve been doing hair this long, you realize something pretty damn funny:

I’ve already done half of these “new” trends.

We just called them something different. 😂

I’ve lived through big hair, spiral perms, chunky highlights, frosted tips, razor cuts, spiky pixies, mohawks, deathhawks, Chelsea cuts, scene hair, emo bangs, asymmetrical cuts, undercuts, side shaves, mullets, shags, wolf cuts, baby bangs, color blocking, money pieces, dip-dyed ends, ombré, balayage and every imaginable version of platinum.

I’ve watched trends become embarrassing…

then vintage…

then retro…

then cool as f**k all over again.

And I’ve been behind the chair through ALL OF IT.

I’ve used more professional color lines than I could possibly name.

I’ve watched brands come and go.

I’ve watched formulas change.

I’ve watched techniques evolve.

I’ve watched the entire beauty industry reinvent itself over and over again.

Hell, I remember when getting your hands on GOOD VIVID COLOR was actually difficult. 🌈

There wasn’t an endless rainbow of professional color sitting on a shelf.

We mixed.

We experimented.

We improvised.

We got creative.

WE FIGURED THAT S**T OUT.

And I fu***ng loved it.

I still do.

Because after all these years, the hair that excites me most is still the hair that’s a little different.

🌈 Vivids
🩸 Color blocking
✂️ Choppy, disconnected layers
🖤 Shags
🖤 Mullets
🖤 Wolf cuts
🖤 Undercuts

🖤 Baby bangs, big bangs and weird bangs
🔥 Anything messy, loud, unconventional or completely fu***ng unhinged

Give me the weird s**t.

Give me the hair that makes people stare.

Give me something nobody else has.

Give me an idea that sounds absolutely ridiculous until we make it fu***ng amazing.

THAT’S MY S**T. 🖤

Because alternative hair was NEVER about fitting in.

It was about expression.

Individuality.

Rebellion.

Music.

Art.

Culture.

And having the balls to look exactly how YOU wanted to look whether anybody else understood it or not.

THAT is the alternative world I came from.

I’ve been punk and alternative since the beginning.

Not because it was popular.

Not because it was fashionable.

Because it felt like HOME.

I’m still listening to loud music.

Still wearing black.

Still obsessed with weird hair.

Still happiest when someone gives me permission to get creative.

Still learning.

Still experimenting.

Still pushing myself.

And after 33 YEARS BEHIND THE CHAIR, I still genuinely fu***ng love doing hair.

So yeah…

Call me old-school.

Call me punk.

Call me weird.

But you can also call me something I’ve earned after more than three decades of living it:

AN OG. 🖤✂️

I’ve watched styles come.

I’ve watched them go.

I’ve watched them come right the f**k back again.

And through every decade, every trend, every new technique and every reinvention…

I NEVER LEFT.

Because this was never my phase.

It was never a costume.

It was never an aesthetic.

IT’S MY FU***NG LIFESTYLE.
